How Many of You Rode in the Heat? I Went to the Beach!
With a high of 100 and a heat index of 115, I rode 15 miles in a strong head wind to go a beach on Lake Erie. Although it was hot, I had a great time. I took my Trek 600, and it didn't disappoint. I love that bike!
In all fairness, I didn't make the return trip. I met my family there, and I rode with back home.
If you are in the heat wave, did you ride today?

Waiting another hour or so for the sun to dip a little deeper, than heading out with both water bottles. And yes, a strong western wind here too.
Edit: 94F, 15mph S-SW winds, 22.4 miles......and {gulp** average speed 14.8. And I thought I was going good. The wind somewhat cooling.

On monday I rode 26 miles to the beach, did another 26 miles home after getting a quick bite to eat and a cold beer.
Here's a pic of the trail I took as we passed the PCH. Never mind, I'll post the pic when I get home from work. Company firewall won't let me upload.
During the hottest it was about 90 degrees at some point. When we got to the beach it cooled down to about 79 or so.

I rode to work, and I'll ride back home in an hour or so. It's only 5 miles each way, but damn, it's hot here in the city today.

Rode yesterday, ~25-30mi. I left right around noon. A little sunblock, a full cold water bottle in the cage, and a stop along the way and I was fine. I think I might go for a ride this evening but not sure yet. I might just stay home, grill some meat, and drink some cold beer. I do enjoy that too.

A ride starts in 5 minutes, but I'm not going. I rode 38 miles a couple of days ago when it was 95 degrees out with a heat index of 105. I felt ill for a couple of hours after the ride. So I'm staying inside tonight.

I plan on this being a second winter with a couple projects lined up to work on while I wait out the heat. Then again, I'm a new chain away from having my new hybrid on the road, so I may have to brave the heat.

Supposed to be cooler tomorrow. We'll see.

I went for 35 miles yesterday starting at 5:30. I had to turn back when I couldn't rally for the final assent at about 7 pm. It took till 8 for me to feel normal again, I rode until a bit after 9. I have living in Phoenix for a few years to thanks for my durability in the heat. I did skip on the club ride tho...

We rode out to Lake Minnetonka from St.Paul today.
About a fifty round tripper.
14 degrees cooler than yesterday, with reasonable dewpoints.

Rode everyday this week, usually early morning and evenings but I did go out Wsednesday afternoon into the Watchung Mountians because they promised low humidity with the heat that day. The heat off the roads in the city is incredible when your not moving!

I've started my rides at 7PM this week, and try to get in about 15 or so miles. The temperature cools down and the traffic gets lighter as the ride progresses.

Today's forecast was 98, tomorrow is 90. Same for Saturday and Sunday. Low 80s on Monday. w00t!
I don't mind it much. I leave for work at 7 and come home at 5. Generally not as hot then. Weekends I am out by 6, home by 9. Instead of riding through on the weekend, i'll stop at the quicky mart at the half-way point and get something to drink.

I rode when yesterday when our temps hit 97deg (probably more like 108 on the asphalt), did 25mi including one monster hill. Took it fairly easy and drank 52oz in that run.

Did my regular 12.4 mile commute this morning at 0500 on my Surley LHT with panniers. It was 77* and 91% humidty when I got to the office.
We shut the site down when the heat index hits 110*, which happened at 1115 today.
I left for the return ride at 1600 and it was 118* with the heat index, 100* actual. Of course I get to push paper most of the day so I'm not tapped when the ride starts. Takes a while to quit sweating when I get home though....

17.5 miles, had to wash the bike when I got back, covered in sweat. Did the WD40 wipedown and used q-tips, too.
Still planning the 100 in 100 on Saturday. Now they're saying 102 (I'm going with the "hottest" forecast...)

It was a high of 101, heat index of 110 today... I jogged a mile at noon and couldn't take it. I'll go for a bike ride tonight though when it gets back into the high 80's and I rode yesterday when it was 94 with a heat index of 100.

Same here today. I'm in the NYC metro area.
I'm doing OK, actually. We don't have A/C in our home, and that seems to have conditioned me well for the heat. I drink amazing amounts of water, and I don't stop until I stop feeling hot.
I rode to my client and back, about 1.5 miles each way. Then, I rode to my class and back. It's about 2 miles each way, downhill out and uphill back. I rode back slowly.
I'm teaching a bike repair class to kids. They got restless today, and some kids horsed around while I was helping the kids who wanted to work. I didn't bother reprimanding or redirecting them. I figure we have to be easy on each other.
Hmm, it's 7:30pm and it's still 100ºF here. Jeez.
Oh, I've been lucky. The interior of our house is only about 87ºF, thanks to a lot of shade from trees.

Rode 25 miles in the morning for some hill training before work yesterday, and did my usual 2.5 mile commute to and from work all week so far. Today was the hottest day-- 97 degrees when I left work, and a heat index around 105.
