Fuji Opus

So, how does the Opus rank in the Fuji lineup? Whilst rummaging in the attic @ work today (and sweating my arse off mind you!) I found a Fuji Opus in about a 56cm. It's been up there for about 1-1 1/2 sooooooo I can buy it for the cost of repairs. I saw a sticker that said something about Fuji Quad butted tubing? It has a few choice bits on it that I could use for other projects Thoughts?

There were Fuji Opus III, IV, and V, made from 1983-1989. You would need some more info to confirm, but here is a link to all the catalogs: http://www.classicfuji.com/index.html

Early on it was #2 to the Professional, and then later years there were the Titanium bikes and Design Series frame sets, but that's it.

Go get it.

I had one go through my hands a month ago. 1985 Opus 3 Quad Butted tubes, Ishiwata 4K fork with Suntour Superbee Pro and Superbee. Royal Gran Compe 400 brakes. Sugino Mighty fluted seat post.
I believe it originally had tubulars. This one had Mavic G-40 clinchers. Also had been changed to aero brake levers.
Great color and the only one I have seen so far in person. I wish it had fit me.

Great frames. I might be parting with my 55cm Opus III soon, but it is a fantastic bike. Fuji's quality never fails to impress.

The Opus is a bike I would be interested in owning, and both of those mentioned (here and above in 55 & 56cm) just happen to be right in my sweet spot. Please give forum members a chance to bid before you offer them up to the fixie crowd.

Here is a 1983 Opus I used to own. Gold rims were cool, on Sunshine America hubs, lotsa Suntour Superbe pieces on it:

^ Hey, that's pretty similar to what mine started life as. Interestingly, my frame is on your site. The serial number is C303. The previous owner is the one who contacted you about it.

That's pretty much it! I need to look at it closer to see what pieces are original. I know the r/d and shifters are D/A, f/d is 105, hubs are Campy low flange and that's all I really got to see.

Oh, I know it's not original but if the frame doesn't fit me, the parts will work splendidly on other projects. Time will tell. Happily it does not have tubulars, but it does not have the gold rims either

Those Ukai gold tubulars are the bomb, I'd love to pick up a wheelset (or just the rims) someday. Hint hint for someone with an Opus who wants to switch to clinchers!
