Need some insight in replacing peugeot seatpost binder bolt

I'm asking this for a friend. He has a HLE, manganese-steel tubed Peugeot Iseran. He apparently stripped the nut part of the seatbinder bolt.
How would he go on to remove the nut part from the binder? (due to a lack of indentation for a hex key, can I assume that you simply push it out from within the clamp?)
What should he look for, as a replacement? Can I assume a 10mm campy/ french simplex recessed style binder would do the trick?

Thanks!
