Thanks cpsqlrwn
! I got it off Craigslist last fall. Going through my second mid-life crisis (first one was motorcycles) and started collecting the bikes I wanted in the early years of my riding. The RB-1 was my second road bike, bought in new in 1990. It's been retired and then rebuilt more times than I can count. You didn't mentioned the Masi but it always puts a big smile on my face whenever I ride it. A very surprising bike.

I thought I had rounded out my stable -- then this! There are a few bikes that I'd jump at owning - and a De Rosa is on that list.
I did briefly own a nice red Casati that I sold to a coworker. It's a sharp bike.

FYI - seller pulled the ad. He claims he made a price mistake in listing
He wants 1250 now, which is likely still fair depending on gruppo. If someone is interested, I have his #.

Is that one the same size as yours?
For some reason they look bigger than I'd expect 56cm to look.
Is yours 56cm CTT or CTC? What's the top tube CTC?

As stated before, mine is 56 ctc square. Fits nicely. I can't quite reach this one with a tape measure.

I have the same question-- is there is a reason why these 56cm Primatos look more like 58cm bikes to me? Besides my imagination?

This is the only forum that I frequent, so my question is do these bikes generate the same furor and desire on other forums? How does this forum rate on the DPPS (DeRosa Primato Passion Scale) when compared to other forums?

So Aaron... did you try swapping the wheels to see if it is the bike or the tires?

I haven't yet, and also think I need to make some other adjustments as well. The crank length definitely seems funky (I typically use 170). I'm not sure if that's something I'd get used to, but I definitely feel a larger pedal arc. I also think the stem should probably be dialed in a bit...maybe about 1cm.
I think instead of running this bike with clinchers, I might try running the Marnati with tubulars.

The 175 mm crank arms are great for climbing. 170's are good for spinning. My preference is 172.5 but they are uncommon. Tubulars are the way to go. They beat out clinchers all the time. Always prestrech tubulars, on an old rim if possible. It makes them easier to put on.
My favorite tubular isthe Clement Paris Roubaix. It's a fat, read medium, width tire that gives a great ride. Clement seta's are better. Both are obscenely expensive. I may have mentioned that before.

I'm really liking the GP4000's. I'm planning on building a tubular set for the Marnati...maybe I'll try those Clements.
