looking for a kind soul in Raleigh, NC that is willing to help

Hi

I know I am new here (reading a lot last 2 years, posting zilch so far), so I do not have a lot of credibility, but still...

I have spotted a vintage bike in Raleigh craigslist that is my dream. Literally. It is one of a kind bike. And it is in my size to boot. And it is priced low. And it looks like buying it means rescuing it from the sad fate of being chained outside, rain or sun.

Unfortunately, seller seems to dislike the 'remote' deals.

So, out of desperation, I am posting here, maybe somebody can help to facilitate the deal.

Somebody, please help me, I will be good

To moderators: if I am violating any rules on this forum, I am sorry and in that case feel free to delete this post.

I appreciate your sense of humor, but no, not that one.

Imagine 6'2" dude in his 30's standing over this bike, wondering if he should ride it with his knees on the saddle - that would be me!

My daughter will outgrow her bike with 20" wheels soon.

The bike I want is infinitely more classy...

Off I go for a short ride on my 1984 Schwinn Voyageur SP, dreaming that by the time I get back...

I know I am not realistic, but ... a man can dream, right?

I checked Khatful's facilitators list, not many in NC. Good luck!

Thank you, Scott.

PeregrineA1, my email is ***@gmx.net (with silly numbers replaced with corresponding letters, spam-bot protection).

I would rather not shout to the whole world exact subject of my desire, if I can help it

Interestingly enough, my average speed was very noticeably higher today on my evening bike ride. It is amazing what difference a little adrenaline in the bloodstream can make.

I've tried your e-mail on two different systems and get no joy.

I'm not real good with decoding so if you are saying to replace numbers in your posted addy with letters, I'm not sure what letter is zero....

Ok, it is ***@.... - that should be easier

Thank you for persisting and finding a way around this obstacle.

I just want to express my gratitude to the whole C&V community here and especially to those very people that helped me to secure the bike of my dreams. RobbieTunes , Khatfull, thank you for support and advice. PeregrineA1, you are my hero! Thank you for pulling this off and getting to the seller in time to get the bike!

Now I just need to wait for delivery (that is hard part), and let the restoration process begin! Bike seems to need it badly. But I think it is worth it.

Here is a puzzle for the rest of you. What is this bike?

olek,
Where do you need the bike delivered too? I run the east coast from GA to PA pretty regularly and have a bike rack on my car. My office is just south of Raleigh.

BTW 63cm is my size, but that ain't my style

Ah, the "ultimate" touring bike, the Fuji America! Worth hunting down, especially at that price.

I'm glad it worked out for you in NC!

Scott - you got it! It is the one, indeed, 1980 model-year or older.

Aaron, I am from Pittsburgh, more precisely suburbs north of it. And please do not look for breathtaking pictures of amazing restoration that was done by Khatfull on the same model, I do not want your taste to change

I don't normally get that far over in PA. I am in Lancaster right now, but heading back south tomorrow. If you don't want to ship and can wait a week or so I could possibly meet you part way.

Thank you for trying to help, Aaron, but I think I would rather pay for shipping than spend myself 5-10 hours in the car and/or cause others to suffer the same fate. Not to mention that gas money will be in about same ballpark as shipping.

I am grateful anyway! There are so many good caring people on this forum...

Not a problem...FWIW the company pays for the car...and the gas on my end
