Finally finished building it. Just came back from longish night/shakedown ride and am kind of delirious with joy.

And one can't really expect that they will.

I am, thankfully, in the enviable position of not having a country. I'm no longer a resident of the USA, and I'm not a citizen of Mexico, so I can't legally vote in either country. And in México I can be deported for anything even resembling political activity. Sweet.

Forgive me I just went by the locale noted on your post.

That's both good and bad. I understand the disgust with politics. I feel it is the lowest of human endeavor.

However if we ignore things happen driven by those who have nothing other than their own interests at heart.

The elimination of milkweed poses serious problem... what people see as a noxious weed is crucial to their survival.

Will be going back to this site to see if any caterpillars can be seen and no-one here seems to care about the milkweed... it is abuundant and I saw a lot more Monarchs on my afternoon ride around the bay.

Nice hummingbird pic. We've had a hummingbird frequenting the zinnias in the back yard.

Also had a female monarch butterfly on the butterfly bush. Saw one a day or two ago too but it might have been the same one. They are scarcer in New England than they used to be. We did see a nice yellow swallowtail today too.

I was a little amazed the Monarch shot turned out so well, I was only carrying my Sony Cyber Shot when I saw her and only got one shot before she flitted away.

I have been playing with my daughter's Nikon which has a 34x optical zoom and was setting up shots for tomorrow, caught that little hummer with my Canon A640 and a 4 power zoom and the little hummers are so fearless that I might be able to shoot them tomorrow with no zoom whatsoever.

When I was changing the ties from white to black for the feeders (the white ones mess with the camera sensors) I had the females coming within inches of me, the resident male is a little standoffish but he does like to perch high to keep an eye on his backyard empire.

I plan to spend a fair bit of time out there tomorrow so that I might get better pictures of the boss, the light has to catch them just right to see what gives them their name and I was losing the light here.

Just lost my whole post... typing with mashed fingers... Let's see, the highlights. Get 50' feet from pavement and you'll be away from crowds. Traffic jams caused by one sleeping bison on the side of the road. The original inn at Old Faithful is a must see. I swear I have photos on Photobucket, but I can't find them.

My Mother was from Gettysburg. I was adding another thought when I lost it all.

Have a great time!

We've planted milkweed in our front garden, but haven't seen a monarch in quite some time.
