After hanging Christmas lights and taking my daughter to the playground, I still had time for a quick 20 miles. Can't waste a 50 degree day in December! While out, my 10 year old son called to let me know we were short a couple of ingredients for his "taco-fest" dinner tonight. He likes to cook & eat! So, a quick detour to the store and then back home. It is nice to have some carrying capacity for the unexpected.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
A little something I do every morning... I volunteer at the pet store with the birds to make sure they all get enough people time.
Pumpkin is a 3 month old Plum Headed Parakeet who is a little shy and likes to make her nest under my hoodie until she feels like exploring.

Since it was 55 degrees this afternoon, I decided to grab the old Schwinn and head towards Harper Ferry for a quick ride... I made it to Lock 31, and decided that was enough for the day since I had some chores around the house and whatnot. I still haven't figured out what it is about this old bike that has me riding it as much as I do. I figure that it must be the way that it rides with the gravel path that makes it work so well.

Here's a screenshot of my laptop. I took it with my camera, which is why it's fuzzy and the edges are rounded.

And here is my porch last night night, viewed from my driveway. There's a bike in the repair stand, waiting for me to fix it today, which I did. I sold this bike a year ago. The woman brought it back for repairs. It's her teenage son's bike. It needed a tuneup and a rear hub overhaul.

Actually, no. I'll rig up something, but in the meantime, we make sure no bike is in ride-away condition. The local thugs don't know how to put a QR wheel on, so we at least take the front wheel off.

Home for the holiday. Shot this one when I was at my parents' for thanksgiving, taken from the back deck. I like my city conveniences but the country is where my heart is. Riding is MUCH better too...

If you zoom in, you can see our neighbors.. there were a couple hundred geese on the pond that day.

Here is a different view from a few weeks earlier. Yuck!

Took this on a MUP path I was riding a few days ago and while taking a break I thought the lighting was interesting so I snapped a few pics and then used an fx app on my smartphone.

Are you saying that because you enjoy thread more than the others or because it's the last remaining thread that you enjoy? <evil grin goes here but I'm too lazy to look up the emoticon>

I was exploring on some country roads with a buddy last week. The road turned to dirt but we kept going, and going, and going...eventually the road was like this and we were lost in the middle of a large state forest and it was getting dark! Eventually got some cell service and was able to use the iphone map to hike through the woods to a main road (still unpaved) and then get rescued by my sister.
Oh and sorry about the handlebar angle. The bumpy roads helped me find out the bar clamp on my stem wasn't tight enough!

Thank you. Yes we had the house (built in 1888) in the summer. We like it a lot. When we're done fixing it up, we'll have to sell it.
