Strawberry flavored bacon. Who'd have thought it. Does anyone actually eat that?

These are a few shots of the rt 1 up the coast that are about 25 minutes from my place. I'll be riding a loop through here shortly.

the sections are north of Santa Cruz, south of San Francisco.

here's the larger version. I hate the size limitations on images on this forum.

holiday - It looks like riding on rt. 1 through there must be gorgeous but with the narrow shoulder and winding roads combined with the fact that a large portion of the people driving on it are sightseeing and not focusing on the road makes it seem pretty dangerous...

Rode through Cuyahoga Valley today and broke in some brand new tires. I failed miserably at centering my bike under the bridge.

Yep, parts of it can be. Most of it near me has a pretty big shoulder and not as much sightseeing traffic as you'd think. Every time I'm on it I see fully loaded tourers so I can't be all bad. The area south of me down by Big Sur is supposed to be pretty dicey though .

No Fun Getting Older!

When I retired after racing 14 years in 1984, I wanted to get into other things- Oh I lived a lot in Southern Cal, but lots of traffic there and I was away from it all.

Now I'd like to ride quite a bit more- I always thought I'd ride when I was young- and ironically it's the old strains and injuries of racing really hard back when that limit me the most-

But now I'm in Florida where I could easily ride almost every day of the year if I had what I did when young-

so anyway my mileage is limited by my energies and stiffness- but I'm really enjoying what I can still do.

Here I am in Jacksonville next to the St Johns river in town- the pictures aren't so great because I took them with a delayed shutter and the camera on a ledge-

anyway- happy riding-

I found a pile of old frames in the woods today at work, and snapped a couple of pictures.

It's OK. You tried!

Hey! That's a pretty cool bridge!

Go back and try it again! You can do it!

TNext time hold your camera sideways. You'll have less horizontal and more vertical to play with!

Haha. I'll definitely be taking at least one more trip through the valley before I move back down south. I'll re-snap that pic. Also, there's another bridge a few hundred yards away which is just as cool looking, so I'll try and get that one too.

I know this is a poor pic, but I went to see a Clydesdale farm in my area. I didn't see any horses probably because I was too busy ducking, diving, and sprinting away from dogs. Anyway ran across this and maybe pastorbobnh can confirm this, but is greater saint delight the patron saint of road bikers?
