snarkypup, I just sold my 22T sprocket. I'm going to buy a 24T! While I wait for it, I'm back to riding the 18T. Ick.

He rides his own bike, now that he has one with gears. The most he's done is about nine miles, which isn't too bad for a seven year-old. I hear tales from other moms of kids his age doing 10-12 miles or more, but I think there's some bragging going on there. My kid's normal size for his age, and very patient with an exceptionally long attention span, and that's too far for him. Going about six seems his best milage. I suppose there are some big seven year-olds who can muscle along for longer rides, but he just loses steam. I can see why a 22 or 24 would be wonderful for hills. This is why the new bike I'm building up slowly will have more speeds. Then I can have the best of both worlds: a lower gear for hills, and that higher gear for flats. I've become quite a serious hill climber, though, with that 20t. I should go out for an alpine stage... |

Thanks, my dog ( Lacey) is a 100% bundle of energy and can play 24/7 but she is the most head strong dog I have ever owned so I call her Pigle my Pitbull Beagle lol. My bike this morning. It's on the top cog because I am trying to adjust the RD, it doesn't want to shift there, the shifter clicks and then clicks back down. It won't shift to that gear unless you hold hold it until it shifts. For the record the RD shifter is indexed, the FD shifter is not.

Scozim, Roger M and I did a nice rolling ride of about 45 miles around Lake Stevens/Snohomish/Lake Roessinger today. My climbing was pathetic compared to those two; Scott has some serious fast-twitch muscle and Roger just spins away. I sweated on the back - but I was able to hang it out on the downhills so we kept together. Temps in the low 80s, not a cloud in the sky - and Roger picked a great route that took us through a lot of shady rollers.
