yesterday morning ride:
Just got the keys to our new place. Bungalow built in 1925, with much of the original moldings, built-ins, etc. C&V home
The previous owners left behind some cool stuff; an old cedar chest filled with old board games...a vast record collection...an old hand crank deli slicer. Surely not junk in my book!

The downtube paint for the Nishiki on my winter training bike has seen much better days. I got bored and decided to see what I could do. The result isn't at Drillium Dude levels but it's passable from 10 feet. Got a little more wet sanding to do. The photo shows the drive side on the left and the repainted non-drive side on the right. I didn't get the tape sealed completely in a couple of spots and that created some problems. Next up is the other side and the lug striping.

Figured since I read through 98 pages of this thread, I might as well chip in myself.
Had a fun little ride this morning on some trails with this old Diamondback I just bought. It was more of a 'test ride' just to find out how much stuff I'll need to fix/replace, but all in all it performed well and I had tons of fun.
And it's hard to beat the scenery, I think I wanted to take pictures more than ride the bike

Normally it might be for me but I gave up hunting about 6 yrs ago as I got more into the biking thing and got tired of the war zone on public land.
They do - actually they get more stupid than anything else. Fortunately, it's not that time of the year. He just stood there watching me load my bike into the car for tomorrow's long ride.

Thanks for all the kind words and tips guys! Good news, the fireplace and chimney are clean as a whistle! This is Florida though so it will be at least a month before I have a real reason to use it lol

These are a few pics from my standard ride in the foothills behind Santa Barbara. I was lucky, my son Wylie was in town and joined me riding his late 70s Colnago(got from a curbside freebie pile about 15 years ago but that's another story).
Ride starts by climbing up Mission Ridge Rd, pics of road and view from same, SB harbor and Channel Islands about 30 miles across the Pacific. Next few are from Mountain Dr which pretty much stays at the same altitude (a really fun road, lots of turns, about zero traffic, great views) then looking down coast from the road. Last two are Cold Springs Canyon creek(and trailhead for the canyon, parked cars are hiker's)), my usual turn around point, and Wylie and me.
