60/70's Gitane tadem BB questions

i have a vintage gitane with cottered ta/stronglight style 50.4 bcd cranks, can I replace the bb and cups with something non-cottered and leave the eccentric bb?

Wow! We love obscure.

I suggest two sources. First, the GitaneUSA.com vintage forum https://www.gitaneusa.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1

Second, write to Wayne at VeloClassique https://www.veloclassique.com/. He owns Mel Pinto Imports, which was the original Gitane import house. The web site doesn't have much, but his email address is there.

Then, post photos of your bike. Jus' 'cause we like pictures of cool old tandems.

Yes, albeit likely french. VO has replacement cartridge BB's.
