old bmx bikes

So hopefully this isn't too ot for the forum, but I have noticed something odd since I moved to Arizona a month ago. BMX bikes seem to sell here! I literally couldn't give them away when I lived in Colorado. What gives? is it a regional thing? do you all have Bmx markets in your regions, and if so are they for classic BMX bikes or newer ones. Just curious.

When I lived in Phoenix there were several race tracks in the area. Chandler is home to ABA (racing sanction) and Black mountain may be the best track in the country.

There is a BMX collector in my area and several former amateur racers. I was visiting with a friend yesterday owns several cool bikes and parts.

This is a Scorpion. Lugged 531

There should be more interest in C&V BMX hardware but it seems to be little of it in this particular forum. I don't know the answer why the demographics of this sub-forum just doesn't tend to run towards the BMX bikes but there isn't much discussion about it.

I think that BMX bikes, as long as they are really vintage and/or classic do belong in here every bit as much as the C&V MTB's.

ftwelder, that is a sweet frame.

Visit bmxmuseum.com if you want to be shocked about old school bmx prices. Crazy stuff. If I had know parts would be worth this I would have kept all my stuff from the 80's :).

I am working on a 1984 Diamondback Pacer500.

If anyone has a 1977 Redline MX-II they can send it my way...I would not complain.

I've restored my son's '81 PK Ripper looptail :D

He used to race it (I was his pit man) at Waterford Oaks in Waterford, Mi.

Up here, BMX's are not too popular except with the grade school/middle school kids that like to bash. No tracks, no BMX's is the way it goes.

Over the years we have been approached many times to sell that Looptail for 400.00 and more. Not too many out there that are not wrecked with cracks or missing Landing Gear fork.
