Some of you saw my new frameset a couple weeks ago. She's now built up with the VO components from my RRA, VO RAID rims, and a few Campy bits (hubs, FD). I rode her to work yesterday - very nice. May I present my all chrome 72 Schwinn Paramount.
I'll have to carry a microfiber cloth to keep her shined up - you can see the finger smudges on the rims. :eek:

I love photo #4, the chain ring is so shiny it almost disappears with the reflected concrete texture.

Is the RD a Shimano Crane?

In the following picture, i've circled an area in RED. It looks like the cables are rubbing on the headtube or touching it. I highly recommend you buy some 3m clear protective adhesive tape to install between the headtube and the cables. When i bought my Pinarello the cabling from the brifters was resting in the same spot, although i didn't notice upon purchase, when i was cleaning it i noticed that from years or shifting and movement from the cable had rubbed the top layer of paint down the the basecoat of white. The shift cable housing had rubbed so much that the plastic outer coating had worn to the metal non-compression housing. I'm trying to locate some of that 3m stuff that they put on the hood of cars to prevent stone chips for two sections on the bike. I'm sure after few years of rubbing it will put some wear marks in the chome. So if you're super pickey about finger print smudges i couldn't imagine what you'd be like with some scratch/wear marks on the crome, maybe like this ---->:twitchy:

Also i would advise you to buy some chrome tape and cut it into the shape of a chainstay protector, i do this on my pinarello as well, and it blends into the chrome rear fork reall well. I brought it down town one time and a couple roadies stopped me to gander at my bike, and one guy was like wow it's nice, you should put a chain stay protector cause that chrome is really well kept. I said, "i already have one on there, i made it out of chrome tape", then he stared closer and was like wow i didn't even notice.

Other than that, nice bike though, super shiny. i didn't wear sunglasses, so will this be as disastrous as looking at a solar eclipse without shades?, am i going to loose my vision?

Splendid. A work of art.

It's an early Shimano 600 that has new pulleys. I hope to move it to a Schwinn 974 (not my size) and install a Campy NR derailleur on the Paramount. It's ironic that I sold a lot of Campy parts recently - that financed the frame purchase.

Both are bent. A friend speculated that they were deliberately bent after being set properly. The frame was packed so well I doubt it was done in transit.
I don't know if you can see it but the spokes are old style double butted. I got them from VeloClassique. The same friend laced the rims for me.

FWIW: the "hatch plate" on that rear derailleur is supposed to make it easier to remove the chain. On mine, it was so easy that the chain kept coming off and scraping the side of the upper pulley. Grrr... :(

Very cool. I'd suggest cleaning the barcon cables up a bit though, looks way too sloppy, I always run mine under the tape all the way up, some people think it puts too much drag for shifting but I disagree, at least ive never had problems. Just add some grease on the cables. moving the downtube cable clamp up just behind the headtube helps too

How are you enjoying your Silver Bar ends? I recently installed them on my trek and loved them. I routed the cables up under the tape and they still shift smoothly and flawlessly. I think you get away with a little more since you are running friction.
