Dang, K. That blows.

I will forever be grateful to SFC Rathbun for his expert and vociferous tutelage in foot care. I do not, as a result, have foot problems. I do, OTOH, have a tendency toward cysts and abcesses in my saddlery regions; and I am here to say that you don't know what 'helpless' means until you get to watch infection vs. Antibiotics in a race toward deeez nutz.

^ YIKES.

I see a podiatrist often since I have type I diabetes and foot problems can be a matter of a good life and a crummy life. Thankfully no cellulitis yet. Sounds painful!

One of my fonder memories of my late Pop was after he'd been diagnosed with erticarial vasculitis, which eventually did him in. But affecting the circulation as it does, he'd lost a toe to it. So one day, we went out for lunch and a chit-chat. Afterward, he yawned and said, "Geez, I gotta go home and go ten toes up."

"Uhhhh.... Dad, that'd be nine toes up."

I don't think I'd ever seen him laugh so hard in all his days, he really got a kick out of it. I learned something then, that when your body betrays you-- if you can't laugh about it, you're totally lost.

Just as a follow up...

10 days of good strong oral antibiotics didn't do the job so here 10 days later I sit in the ER again getting pumped with IV and I get to stay tonight!

Fun fun!

So learn my lesson....watch 'da feet! :)

Actually, I DON'T have a fever, and that's a good thing. But I'm playing cowbell now, always good for a chuckle. :)

Hope you get better soon - Keep up the humor and think good thoughts - That will help the meds do their job...

Remember - Don't stop the antibiodics till its completely healed - This is the biggest mistake I see MD's making now days - The other is patients that don't take this kind of injury seriously - This is at best a six month injury - That does not mean six months of infection but it does mean six months of real concentrated caution - Just be a smart athlete and all will be fine...

Big suck Keith. Hope the IV super meds do the trick. Good wishes to you.

Staying overnight in the hospital? A second time? That's awful. But good that you're in good hands.

I've had painful numbness in my feet for years, and cycling brings it on. No one could diagnose it for the longest time. Then I found it was a pinched nerve in my back, but I had no medical advice for how to treat it. I've become much more conscious of my posture, on and off the bike, and now my problem is 90% solved. I think if I manage to get my back stronger and more flexible, it will be 100% solved. Totally different, but I hope this is interesting as a contrastingly different foot problem.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Keith. I hope you have enought thing to polish if you have to stay off the peds for a while!

Thanks for bringing up the topic - more serious than I imagined.

Get well soon. If you have to stay in the hospital a few days do it. My mom stayed for three days until she got better

Geçmiş olsun!

(I think that's the only useful thing I know how to say in Turkish).

K.
I had to send you an email...I need 46 more posts to send a pm.

By the way since your a Fuji Guy. In 1977 for our birthday my identical twin brother got a new black Fuji S10S.
I got a new ALL CHROME schwinn super letour 12.2. when we would race, whoever was on the fuji would win. These were races from a first or second gear roll all the way up to the top gear. No matter what gear we started in the fuji rider would win.
Heres the best part, He still has it in his basement in mint condition.:thumb:
