CCM Supreme

Does anyone know anything about CCM bikes, and what happened to them? I bought a used CCM Supreme with 27" x 1 1/4 wheels, and Shimano Altus derailleurs. I have found it very hard to find any information about the Supreme, or CCM Bikes...

I am planning on taking it apart cleaning and remaking it to use it as a learner to figure out how everything works.

This is not a picture of mine, but is one I found on google which looks identical (except mine has no drop handlebars).

This is mine in its current state:

When I bought it the wheels were far from true, tubes barely inflated. And I can only shift between the two smallest rear gears. But its a work in progress.

Basically - does anything know anything about the bike? Do you have suggestions for replacement parts? What should I do with the rims? The rear one is quite rusted...

I don't plan on using it that heavily, it will hopefully become my commuter bike, but live very close to where i work.

CCM is one of Canada's oldest bicycle companies, there is a wikipedia entry about the company and many other sites.

If you can search out a used pair of 622 rims (700c) I'd switch this bike over to those and clean the original derailleurs up, they should work well enough provided it has friction shifters on it.

Oh, and check out Sheldon Brown's site for lots of information about wrenching...

Have a look through this CCM catalog that I have on MY "TEN SPEEDS". The bikes shown there are probably older than the Supreme, which would most likely be mid-eighties.

Ok cool, I wasn't sure how hard it would be to switch over. Will I have any problem with the brakes on a different wheel size? they are pretty similar though right?

Thanks for the catalogue that's really cool!

Also where would be good places to get used rims?
