1974 Raleigh Grand Prix
Hello, I have 1974 (98% positive) Nottingham Grand Prix that I picked up for 20 dollars from a guy on craigslist. The thing was in really bad shape with a lot of rust spots. I was able to get a lost of the rust off the chrome, and a little off the frame. It looks pretty good so far.
My question is relating to the freewheel and how I may go about getting that off. The clusters in a lot better shape than the rest of the wheel. I know there are some special tools that shimano makes, but I don't know what kind I would need, and I'd really prefer not to buy any unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks

I had that issue with my '73 Grand Prix. When I got my new wheels (you'll want to get aluminum ones) I just took 'em over to Two Wheel Tango on Packard and they swapped the freewheel onto the new wheel for like $5. To me thats a better deal than paying for such a specialized tool. I did not buy the wheels there. There's also a bike coop in Kerrytown on Sundays where they'll help you for free, though I don't know if they have that tool. Good luck and post pics.
