Replacing my 27 Inch Wheelset

Ok I am looking to replace the 27" wheelset on an old CCM bike I have, rear hub spacing is 126mm.

I have had Sun CR-18 rims suggested to me and the ones I found were around $160. I saw set of Alex AP18s for $90 (although they are for 130mm - is that a problem?).

Does anyone have suggestions for what to get (and where?). Anything would be better than the rusted original pair that I have right now. The riding I will do on them wont be too strenuous and I have budgetary constraints, so I would like something that is cheap first and foremost!

Niagara Cycles has a number of 27" wheel sets available for under $100 if you are really looking for something cheap. $160 is not bad for a CR18 wheelset depending on the hubs, of which you didn't mention the brand or model.

If you're replacing the rims, the 130 mm does not matter. If you're replacing the wheel, it does matter. Wheels and rims are different.

Not too long ago (18 months?) I bought a pair of CR-18s for about $30 each, from Tree Fort. $160 is a price for complete wheels.

If you want complete wheels, you probably should look for a set of 126 mm 27's. Niagara, in my recollection, had such wheelsets for $100 or so.

The hubs are sealed bearing hubs, says Quando - is that the brand? are the Sun CR-18s better than most I will find in that price range?
