Does anyone have one this color? I picked this one up last week, I'm in the process of cleaning and overhauling it. I think its an '84, even though the color doesn't match the catalog. Tange Champion #2 frame. *very rare* ::-):

I had the same bike a couple of years ago. I was into flipping bikes for a while and I sold it after I fixed it up. It is my biggest regret in biking. I really liked that bike and it rode well and I put a lot of work into it. I originally bought it because a friend of mine asked me to find him a nice touring bike. It took months but I got lucky and found a Voyageur in the right size. It was an 1983-84 and just wonderful.
I put tons of work into it and fixed it up really nice. When I told my buddy it was ready, he said he didn't want a bike anymore. I was selling it to him for $100 which is less than I had into it and much less than it was worth. I was so pissed that he wasted my time that I just sold it on CL out of spite.
I never saw another for sale on CL since and I have looked. It was a

My grand scheme is to keep this Voyageur and sell my C-dale T500. I'm going to upgrade the Voyageur with a 6-speed hyperglide freewheel, new derailleur and indexed downtube shifters. I think I will get better shifting and reliabiliby than the original Mountech derailleur. Other than that, it will stay pretty much stock. Oh, and I have to add my leather saddle!

Both colors on the same bike, cool! Really nice job on the Chrome restore, BTW. I see the lack of seat tube H2O bottle braze-ons is also standard, I wondered if it was just a small frame thing...that seems to happen a lot to small frames. I will post pictures of the finished product for all you bike porn addicts - you know who you are.

Put the finishing touches on my 82 S/P yesterday and took it for it's first ride. I think I'll be riding this bike quite a bit.

I finished cleaning up the '84 Voyageur I came across a while back. I replaced the freewheel and Mountech rear derailleur with more modern, faster shifting parts. Changed the brake levers so I could reach in a handlebar bag without having cables in the way. Now it just needs dressed up.

Thanks. I didn't strip the frame myself, but I would use a citrus stripper. I've waxed the frame.

Just a little spit and polish (and stripper) and she'll be ready to go. I'm keeping to 600 drivetrain.
