I have no experience with those particular wheels. One thing I try to avoid is linking to ebay auctions I'm interested in. I'd ask about models. Not that people here aren't awesome... but I just feel like it's adding to the competition.

Are you trying to stay period, or just sort-of?

The Campy set (rear needs some parts - you'll have to deal with that). I like Campy hubs, but these are small flange and the rims are reaaly new for your frame.

The Maillard set is High Flange, good for your look, but I don't know if the 700 series are much older than late 70s. Might see if velobase.com has any info on this. And they appear ready to ride.

Yea I thought about that while posting... and honestly I probably won't buy any of these actual wheelsets, just trying to get a feel for what I actually need. Only way I'd buy them is if they ended super cheap.

Honestly I am trying to take this 50s frame and put components on it that would be suitable as upgrades say 20-30 years later. Maybe early 80s parts at the newest. Also it will be ridden regularly, as it's gonna be my only road bike. So I'd like parts stuff that I can get parts for some what easily if I need to. I would honestly like to have high flange hubs.. as they look awesome in my eyes, but I just not sure what to look for. If you could point me in the right direction, maybe if it were your bike and weren't set on keeping it exactly period, but just enough to when people look at it they know it's a classic. I was thinking about Campanolgo NR derailleurs I want to do clamp on shifters.

Those Maillard wheels would fit a late 70's early 80's era build. The Campy's more late 80's on.

handle bars - can't go wrong with Cinelli, and there are plenty out there to choose from. But you'll need to match up a 26.4mm clamp size stem (more than likely) to your purchase.

Crank: 70's - early 80's Campy Record, Stronglight, TA, even some of the 70's-80's Japanese cranks could fit your build.

Thanks for all your advise Ex Pres!!! Tell me this, I am looking through wheels, hubs and rims as we speak. I was looking at more high flange hubs, like gran sport and likes of. What worries me is that i'll end up with a hub that won't fit the rear stay, or won't accept the cogs.. what are your thoughts, and what should I be looking for????

does the seller have the cones and skewer? if he has those an axle is not too hard to get. I would use a WheelsManufacturing chromoly one.

that is a classic set of training, racing and all around wheels from the mid to late '80s. they appear to have very low milage. is the seller near you?
