Did any of you just feel the earthquake?

I am in NJ near Bordentown and it was my first. pretty cool so far

Everyone in my office felt it but me! Bummer. I have felt them before, when I lived in California.

I'm in NYC and no, I didn't feel a thing. Apparently it was a hundred miles south of DC.

It was definitely felt here.

Everyone in the office noticed but me. I was moving around in a small room and didn't notice

I felt it here in Cambridge, MA. Neat, it reminded me of the one and only other time in my life when I felt a tremor, and that was over 10 years ago in San Diego. Strangely, a small faction of people got really freaked out and made a mad dash to leave the building.

I just had a friend call me from their office in the Bronx. They got it pretty bad. They heard it was a 5.8! Can't believe I am seeing this posting right now!

People are leaving California in droves. I had no idea the earthquakes were getting out, too. :)

felt it in my office in midtown NYC. very gentle - folks who were walking around didn't notice, you had to be sitting down to feel it. cell phone lines are down around NYC right now in the aftermath.

I'm just across the river from D.C. in Vienna, VA.

The entire house shook. Deep rumbling and shaking that lasted . . .

I was in a big one in Burma/Myanmar a few years ago. Ground split and buildings collapsed. Hairy.

It is always an awe-inspiring experience, tho. You feel it in your gut when it's close.

We felt this one. Still waiting to hear of any damage.

I just moved to Charlottesville from California - I've felt a lot of earthquakes in my life, but *that* was scary.....

That's what happened to me, I was walking across the office and felt nothing. Everyone at their desks felt it however.

Any damage? USGS shows it as a 5.9 magnitude in an area with no earthquake requirements in the building code (brick buildings are common).

It looks like it's in the Charlottesville, Richmond area.

Yes. I was paying for my lunch on the 43rd floor of the Comcast Center (the tallest building in Philadelphia) and the entire building started shaking. Everyone basically ran to the elevators and and then outside, where there are now thousands of people standing around. I'd left my macbook and iphone inside so I came back, and now i'm posting on bike forums :)

it was actually pretty scary.

Ok ok... I admit it. I was in the bathroom and didn't notice.

It's interesting how everyone seemed to have ran out of their buidlings.......Uhmmm....you're not suppose to do that as you cannot outrun a building collapse anyway, plus you can be killed by falling glass, concrete and bricks from old buildings if you do reach street level and things are still shaking.

I was in my cubical, surfing, when all of a sudden my monitor started shaking, the floor started shaking, and the guy in the next cubical ran a 100 yd dash in record speed right pass my cubical. I didn't wait to ask any questions, I booked up behind the 100 yd dasher. Before long, the whole building was empty. I said to myself, I been through many a spat, I don't want to go on a humble! :) Thank the Lord, that didn't happen. ;)

Yeah, you are correct, but in the moment it was happening, only a few tried to stand in the door well. They quickly abandoned that for the run. The RUN OUTSIDE, is the first thing to come to your mind. If you are a veteran rescuer, or fireman, you might do different. But, the average joe/jane ran their a$$es off to get outside... :D

I'm in the mountains of West Virginia. At first I thought the dog was leaning on the table scratching and yelled at him to stop. Then the whole house started moving and the dog was looking at me like WTF DOOD???? I didn't do it.

I was on the phone with somebody in NYC when they were asking why their building was shaking.

felt in central jersey - my first one

Felt in Long Island. Felt like driving over some very bad road. It's funny - I work in an engineering office and all the engineers booked out of the building except our Structural - he went and got himself a coffee and leaned on a cubicle saying it's no big deal.

In NE Pennsylvania it was felt... I actually had a person ask me, "Was that an earthquake?" becausse he know I transferred here from California a few years ago. It was a moderate jolt and then nothing for a second, then the rolling came and lasted a couple of seconds.

I must admit that I have never really gotten used to quakes, even spending my first 40+ years on the west coast.
