Motobecane Super Champion
Greetings from the South Pacific. Been a while since I posted, but time to show off this lovely bike to the BF universe.
Bought it in Bordeaux last year for a couple of weeks' touring, and fell in love. 531 with huret dropouts and mudguard eyelets. V-e-r-y nice frame. Brought it back to NZ minus the wheels, where it languished in the garage for almost a year while I tracked down a French BB cup. Now it's back on the road, and a joy to ride. Nice geometry, gorgeous colour, and the smoothest huret/stronglight drivetrain you could ever imagine. Fitted Suntour barcons which just kinda work.
See ya. Jeff.

Beautiful Jeff. Is there any way you can post some more photos? Close ups of frame and decals, etc? That model was not among the offering in the states at the time, at least I've never seen it mentioned in Motobecane catalogs, but I could be wrong. The design of the decals looks like the US market offerings, however. Maybe some detail on the component list? Beautiful bike.

Beautiful bike, let's see some larger photos! Like rootboy mentioned, I don't ever remember seeing this one in the US catalogs, so it's probably a France-specific model.
You say you're having some issues with the suntour bar-cons, I've had better luck when routing the cables for them straight along the bottom of the bars and exiting from the bar tape when the bars first start to curve, giving them much more gradual curves towards the head tube.
Any pictures / write-up from your Bordeaux tour?

Really nice. Another vote for more pics, and another vote for re-routing the shifter cables. No reason those shifters shouldn't work really well with a good drive train.

Thanks for all the comments. Yes, I will post more pickies when the opportunity arises.
And thanks for the therapy on the barcons. My initial comment was, err umm, lost in translation.
What I ACTUALLY meant was the barcons fitted nicely with the mood and elan of the machine. The shift just fine too
See ya - Jeff

NEW! Photos added....
More pickies as promised. The brakes, wheels, tyres, seat & barcons are additions. The rest is original. Tell ya, that Huret derailleur is s-o-o-o-o smooth! Jeff

Beautiful bike, I recently picked one up in bright green original paint. Also from France i might add. Trying to do some digging on it and it appears to have only been released in Europe.
