We ran together on a team back in the 80's, wearing Asics colors. I've had the bike for about a year; he brought it to me by boat at a triathlon. His wife wanted it in a landfill.

In 1986, we co-founded the Fiesta Biathlon (run 5K, ride 15miles, eat a Mexican meal) and this year is the 28th running. For the first time, we plan to team up, with him running, and I'll do the wheel work (since he "doesn't have a bike." I plan to rack this and ride it. He won't be showing up until about 30 minutes before the race, so he'll just suit up, run warmups, and go. I'll simply use his bike and see if he figures it out by the time I get back. The 3rd leg, we'll do together, like dozens of years before. Should be fun. I also forgot how fun these are to build.


It was a beautiful day. He had no idea what was coming, and he ran well, while I biked uh, well enough. Afterwards, we posed in front of the bike shop with the owner who sold him the bike 27+ years ago. He is certainly healthy now, and I did a trade with a guy who surprised me with some purple Pro Race tires. Since our alma mater's colors are purple and gold, the bike certainly fit in.

We only had 1 beer, but when I left, his truck was still in the parking lot, and he was out on the bike....

Mrs. Doc's new gravel path bike. Some health issues involved, hence the relatively close-coupled but vertical riding position. Frame came off of a Trek 720 hybrid/MTB and was powder coated in dark blue by Lean McCreary at Figure Finishing LLC, then new decals from Velocals (not completely original, but still 700 series). Drivetrain is Deore LX/XT with SRAM 7 X 3 grip shifters, a Sugino RD series triple with 46/36/28 rings, Mega freewheel, Nitto Technomic stem. Saddle is a placeholder while we find the right one for her. She picked out the two different colors of cable housing, and I think it works!

Here's my daily ride, my 1963 Allin Stan Butler Standard. The only things that aren't original to the bike are tyres, rack, mudguards.

That's quite a handsome bike! I bet the ride is nice and smooth.

Hello everyone! Little background... in 2005 I was training for a triathlon and bought a '04 Felt F70. Turned out that me and that bike were not destined to ride together. Long story short, after multiple occasions where I got stranded (it was a great bike, but it was cursed, at least for me) I sold the bike to my friend while living in CA, and thought I would never ride a road bike again. Fast forward 9 years, now living in PA, I am training again, trying to get ready for at least another duathlon. I was looking for a bike that wouldn't break the bank, when a friend of mine had this bike sitting around, his son had grown to big for it. Not knowing much about bikes (still), I thought it was better than paying a ton for a new bike, what the hell. He was going to give it to me for free, but I figured I would give him something for it, and check out what it is worth. Actually, I don't even know what year it is, as he is not the original owner. I think it is maybe a 96 or 97 Litespeed Natchez, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I intend to clean it up and get it running well, maybe even eventually replacing the components. Don't know yet. Anyway, here is a pic.



No matter what I do, the pic stays small. Oh well.

Welcome. The attachment is fine. It just looks small in preview. We click on it to enlarge and it looks great. Nice bike. Post a few more, including the drive side. I'm too new to know they ever painted Ti bikes.

Where in PA are you? Your "location" still says San Marco. You'll see I'm outside Phila. If I stand on the roof I can see the Dutch country.

Here's my Lotus as it sits now. Picked out of a yard sale for 35 bucks. Pedals, crank, and brake levers are new. I'm hoping to eventually modernize it with Shimano 105.

I have a Sekai that I found in the Bomb shelter of a house I recently purchased. I tuned it up and it rides great and shifts smooth. It appears as if it is likely all original with of course an aftermarket rack and silly head/tail lamp with generator. I was wondering if anyone could help identify what it is and when it was made. There is no model number and the only things I can find as far as serial numbers are on the vertical tube: D S 70 and under that 514618. Anyone have any thoughts? Worth hanging on to?

I am in right near you in Gilbertsville. Sorry for the delay in the reply, but I was having trouble with accessing the site. Anyway, got the bike over to Shirks (they have amazing prices and service) the day after I posted last. Got the bike back yesterday. They tuned it, fitted me on it, and replaced the cassette and chain. It rides so much better! Anyway, went on my first ride this morning, just 16 miles, but it was good for me. My legs got a great work out, plus it was an amazing day to ride.

A few guys from work, and my neighbor, are signing up for the Civil War Century ride in september. I needed a goal, now I have one.

On a different note Prowler, if you can see the "cloud maker" from your house, you know where I work. Here's a couple pics.
