'88 or so. Wisconsin builder, had fingerprints at Trek, Paramount/Waterford, Buell, and now Harley-Davidson. I say '88 because I believe it was first built with 2x7. Columbus SL tubing, Cinelli BB shell, Campagnolo dropouts, and his own seat cluster/binder treatment (27.2).
7700 drivetrain and binders, 7402 levers, DTSwiss/Hugii for Rolf on the rolling. Cinell steering, Gipiemme post. 18.2 lbs and 53 x 56, so it fits me nicely.
Last green bike I had was a Kestrel and it was phugly.

My remaining completed C&V bike (currently doing a Bottecchia as a retro-mod). Just had the frame, so put on a nice Dura-Ace 7400 8-speed groupset, but with 7403 brakes (for the sheer stopping power). I also cheated on the gears a bit as the corncob gearing was just too much for my knees. Didn't want to splurge on the a true Flite, so it's a Hishou from Soma. Same goes for the handlebars (can't get a vintage compact handlebar I suppose).
Built the wheels up myself also. You can tell because the presta valve is in the wrong place on the front tire (I spun in the wrong way and then just was too lazy to fix it).

Thank you ollo_ollo. I dig that Pashley above, too. I don't have enough class to ride one, but I like looking at it.
I decided to venture one time too many on the FS thread. It happens. Boxed perfectly, kudos to seanallant. I will give it a nice thorough cleaning, but it arrived pretty darn clean. The F brake cable housing is a bit short, but when I switch to a shorter stem, all will be cool. No cleat bike, gives me a chance to wear my Puma bike shoes.
I got it all together, and it was missing the F brake adjuster barrel, the F brake cable clamp bolt, and the cable clamping plate. In the bottom of the box, I found the brake aduster barrel and the cable clamping plate, but not the bolt. I un-scrunched the yards and yards of paper packing, re-rolled it as I did so, and out onto the floor fell the F brake cable clamp bolt. There was a small ziplock bag in the bottom of the box, and it had a small hole in it. So, the bike is 100% and I bought a six-pack to celebrate.
Fixed the fit with the bar/stem swap and new leather wrap.

This got thrown out, and there was a C/L curb alert, which I responded to , just in time to see the local bike flipper packing it up. He didn't want to deal with the cottered crank, and it's pretty beat, but I thought it was really nice he gave it to me. Full 531, mostly Campy, and tossed with a host of other great 90's Treks and some other really great bikes. But none in that pile really appealed to me as much as the Falcon, an Ernie Clements Falcon San Remo, I'm guessing late 60's.

Found two pretty nice but dirty bikes in my neck of the Vermont woods...... an early Univega Gran Rally with Suntour Cyclone derailleurs and a mid-70's Motobecane Grand Jubile with the full Huret Jubilee drivetrain....
Here's the Gran Rally as it came, and then after a good bath, removing the rear rack, and adding a different saddle (the one that came with was pretty brutal for me):

Crank Puller Issue
Hello,
I'll be honest and say I am a complete novice with bike maintenance.
I have recently bought a very old bike on marketplace as a project to dismantle and rebuild it with better parts.
However, I've come up stuck already and naturally felt like google was the best place to turn when when a man is in need.
I have attached pictures below. Basically I can't get the crank puller to fasten on to the bottom bracket crank as the threads on it are covered it 10 - 20 year old grime. It wasn't a problem on the other side so I know the crank puller fits correctly.
Any tips on this one?

@WhealieDealie Scrub the threads clean with a degreaser (available at your local bike shop or auto parts store) and an old toothbrush. If that doesn't clean them up enough use the end of a small paperclip or a tiny nail to follow the threads and carefully scrape the accumulate gunk out.

Thanks I'll give that a go tonight.
In fairness I did try some degreaser but the threads are so old and literally covered in old and hard grease that it had no effect.

Get a can of brake cleaner at auto parts store. Spray it then use toothbrush. Wear gloves and use outdoors. It’ll dissolve ole grease with ease.

Any co-ops or recycle shops near you? They can be invaluable for this sort of thing when you are "stuck".
