New member here, I recently came into ownership of a retro 1988 Centurion LeMans 12 from my grandfather's bike shop. After I restored it this summer, it has become my daily commuter and city bike, which is why it's a little dirty in these pictures.

This early-'70s Raleigh International was given to me by a buddy of my dad's, who'd had it sitting in his shed for an indeterminate period of time -- at least twenty years, he thinks. It came to me with only the frame, fork, bb, fd, stem, bars, brakes and levers. Since the brakes weren't original anyway, I decided just to build it up with functional parts that I could easily get a hold of, rather than going for period accuracy. Obviously the halloween colors on the brakes are a bit garish, and I should probably look for a brown saddle to replace the black one, and some brown leather-ish bar tape, but on the whole I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. The ride is nice. Surprisingly (to me), I was able to fit in a 7-speed SunRace freewheel that I had on hand (though really, I'd be happier with a six). The Suntour ARX RD works well, so far. Questions for y'all: can you identify/date
1) the Campy crankset, which I picked up from a local dude on Craigslist,
2) the Dura-Ace brakes, which came with it, or
3) the frame? The serial number on the bb is hard to make out, but it looks like maybe WD (or WL) 8183 -- or possibly WD 11 8183?

I'd say it is a 1974 frame -- in 1974, Internationals came in "Champagne" or "Copper" with similar Raleigh lettering on the downtube and chainstays as your frame. The original components were Weinmann Vainquer 999 610 centerpull brakes and levers (with cool white Carlton hoods), Campagnolo NR cranks, headset, seatpost, and derailleurs. The seat was a Brooks B-17 (B-15?) leather saddle. The hubs were Campagnolo HF with tubular rims and sew-up tires.

I don't recognize the cranks or brakes, so I can't help you there.

Thanks, Dave. Sheldon's catalog collection shows Champagne as an option in '72 and '73, and his International page suggests that he saw that color on '71 and '74 models as well. So we know it's in that range, somewhere. Me, I rolled out of the factory in '74. Not sure whether that makes it a good year or not.

Nice looking bike. You must have really long legs! I'm 5'11", and the largest frame I can handle comfortable is 24" (64 cm c-to-top).

Pulled it out the rafters … took off the sew-ups and added a set of clinchers wheels on a set of Record large flange hubs. It's a Tretubi frame, made in Italy. Has a few cool details like Bianchi pantographed seat post and stem. I have a set of Super Record brakes with drilled levers that I will probably install. It has Modolo Speedy's on it now.

Rode it today … I love this bike

I'm surprised at how few Bianchi's have been posted in this thread.

I had been riding a Peugeot and a Viscount but always wanted a Campy equipped Italian bike. There were many available, as this thread will testify to, but my budget was a bit tight. Topline bikes were around the $1500 mark, my budget was only $1000. Right after watching the Time Trials on the 91 Fwy and the road race in Mission Viejo during the '84 Olympics.… I bought this bike new for about $1000 ... a hell of a lot for me back in '84. I've made a couple of minor upgrades, but this is basically how it was delivered.
