I better start training... my Proctor needs new decals and am sure they were built at nearly the same time based on the tubing and wishbone seat stays. Your new Proctor is a full race version with shorter rear stays and a slightly steeper head angle while I think mine was built for high speed randonneuring by virtue of the rack / fender mounts but that does not slow it down.

I also have to get the new wheelset built up before spring hits.



But then I could always bring out the Cooper which is a slightly faster bike under certain conditions...

Here is the late 80's Mercian King of Mercia that I found about a month ago for $180

It has Shimano 600 headset and brakes. The hacked up handlebars have Nitto drops to replace them. The seatpost is Dura Ace and the saddle is Schwinn with titanium rails.
I have a Shimano 600 crankset for it and I'm going to place the Mavic Open Pro/Dura Ace cassette rear wheel with a Mavic Open Sport/Origin8 flip/flop rear wheel.

here is mine. unfortunately it had to be resprayed because frame (columbus aelle) was in really bad condition. bike is equipped with full gipiemme crono sprint group except the rear derailleur (gipiemme LJ4000). previous owner said that it was originally that way. seat-post is also gipiemme, bar and stem are 3ttt.

Not so classic? I beg to differ! The frame is really the only thing that matters, as long as you have that it's a classic in my book. While I'm not wild about that crazy loud paint, I really dig the components you chose for it.

I've been hearing lots o' good about the 11 speed system.

For one thing, it's supposed to be super smooth.

I thought 6800 looked cheap and ugly when shimano released it on their carbon marketing frame. Oddly, I've now seen it on a few lugged steel bikes and it looks great.

The mechanics are drooling and gushing.

Speaking of Bianchis, I've been looking at a nice dark blue Pista Vera at one of my local shops. Sadly I can't afford it yet.

Anyhow, here is my first real bike. I saved it from a trash pile when I was a kid, and just held on to it because it was too big for me at the time. The previous owner didn't know what they were doing, and they had been in a minor wreck which is how I ended up with it. The front wheel had to be pulled back into shape, and new hardware added to the front brakes. The previous owner had jammed the stem as hard as they could into the headset to get it as low as possible and tried to mount the shifters on top of the stem even though it was too wide for the clamp. So new fasteners had to be added. I had one of the local mechanics help me pull the stem out because it was jammed in there so tightly, and we found that the quill had cracked so I had to source a replacement for that as well. I had to gently work everything apart and clean all of the components up to get everything functioning properly again. The front reflector bracket was missing, so I fabricated one out of a piece of aluminum stock based on the original design. I added a new bottle cage as well. She's still a work in progress, but she'll be my daily rider.
