Need some info on modern Cuevas
I strode into a local bike shop today to see if they could help me with my cargo bike build and was introduced to Fernando Cuevas. He is the grandson of the original Cuevas frame builders and he got me seriously interested in having him build me a bike. I'm a really big fan of the Rivendell philosophy of cycling which is to setup a bike that is versatility, comfortable and fun to ride with classic looks. This trend might not have originated with Rivendell, but I'm really new to the cycling world and they seem to be the only ones who are advocating this form of cycling besides Fernando Cuevas. If there are others can fellow forum members let me know. It would be great to know more who like this form of cycling.
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with the newer Cuevas frames? I looked at some of the frames he had there and they looked fantastic, but they didn't seem to have a design signature to them. What i mean is if somebody looked at the frame the lug work or the geometry will give it away that it is a Cuevas, but then again most if not all the builders out there are the same. Well, fellow members let me know. |

Wow. Suggest you go to the frame builders forum. I bet they can hook you up with whatever you want. Too many of us (like me) on this forum prefer the "versatility, comfortable, fun to ride, classic looks" that come with vintage, classic bikes. |
Sorry, if I offended anyone. What I should have said was that I only know of Rivendell in this niche and haven't bumped into another company that specializes in this niche, that isn't to say that there isn't another company out there doing a better job producing better bikes, but just that with my limited time I just clicked on the Rivendell advert. on a website.
wrk101, I will definitely look into the frame builders forum. Have you had any experience or heard good things or bad about modern Cuevas bikes? |
