Classic Fuji help

Hi all,

Any thoughts or info about either of these found on my local Craigslist (including what year/model they are or may be)?

https://albany.craigslist.org/bik/2579445984.html

https://albany.craigslist.org/bik/2546578870.html

I have spoken to the seller of the first one, he doesn't seem like he knows much of anything about the bike. I'm waiting to hear back from the second one. I plan to go take a look at the two of them tomorrow.

I'm basically looking for a halfway decent road-style bike to cruise around on (perhaps take long-ish day trips), but my main focus is to figure out if I really even like riding in drop bars, so that if I do, I can invest in a really good road/touring bike next season. But as of now, these vintage Fuji bikes are really catching my eye...Any help is really, truly greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

First bike is way too big for someone 5'7". I'm 5'9, tend towards large frames, I wouldn't even consider this. If it fits you, it is hard to go wrong on this one.

I'd pass on the second one.

The 2nd one is a ladies bike. The 1st one might be ok if you are fairly tall.

Thanks for the quick responses. Does anyone know what year/model the first one is? The seller said it's mid-80s (he thinks), but he is not the original owner, so can't be sure. But he said everything on it is original except for the pedals. As for the height, I'm about 6'1", so it might be ok.

Stupid question regarding the other (and I really don't mean this to be snarky or anything)...are all step-thru frames women's bikes? Like I said, very dumb question I'm sure, but I didn't know if that was the case back then.

Thanks again everyone.

Go for the first one. It appears to be in very good condition, and if it fits you even better! The second one is a women's bike..stay away from it. :-) Lastly at $75 you can't go wrong, but it definitely has to fit. If it was my bike, I wold take $60.00 ;-)

The bike does appear to be 80's, I really don't know exact year. Regarding road bikes with curled bars, I have always recognized them to be made for woman! Definitely not a stupid question. When I first got my first road bike it was a 54cm, so I took it to my local bike shop to see if they could make it in to a 56cm! Lol. The kid at the lbs just looked at me like.....well, you write the ending! :-)

Meant to say step-thru bikes with curled bars. Sorry!

I'd say the first bike is 1st half of the 80's given the seat tube panel and the lack of chroming on fork lowers. Can't make out the model name. It has stem shifters, so it isn't one of the top range models. Fortunately, Fuji made very few dogs, even their low range stuff was usually pretty decent, esp. for the purpose you note.

It is a lower end Fuji, can't see the model in the pic's, but most low end bikes came with the stem mounted shifters. Probably an 86 Absolute, but just guessing for lack of better pics.
