We'll see what happens...

Bianchigirll 09-04-11 10:24 PM

Chris W. 09-04-11 11:26 PM

Oh Man! I can say I've been there done that, and I know the fear and anxiety you are going through.
Good luck to you, let us know your Ok.

rekmeyata 09-04-11 11:42 PM

I been there done that too, I use to live in Santa Barbara California and went through two scares where we had to leave our home, fortunately nothing happen to ours, but on the first occasion it burned houses about 4 blocks from ours, and the second occasion it was only 1 block away. Not sure how we survived those because the sky was filled with glowing embers and we had a wood shake roof!!

Hopefully the same blessing I had will fall on you too!

zandoval 09-04-11 11:43 PM

So far fires all over the county - You would think it was California - The glow over the town reminds me that every day is judgement day...

Drillium Dude 09-04-11 11:46 PM

Oh, man - I really hope all ends well. You're in all our thoughts.

Hang in there and Godspeed...

Thoughts are with you Zandoval. Sounds like you got all the important stuff out with you. We are all hoping for the best for you.

OldsCOOL 09-05-11 07:34 AM

Hope all goes well with you. There are people across the nation lifting Texas up in prayer for rain. What an irony to see so much rain hit the southern parts and the rest go so dry and hot. Hang in there.

bibliobob 09-05-11 07:41 AM

If you have to ditch something, go with the computers :) Cats, dogs, pictures and bikes are the priority.

Best of luck to you. Will think good thoughts for you.

I hope and pray that these fires will abate before they touch any more lives.

rootboy 09-05-11 07:53 AM

ditto that. Poor Texas. Best-O-luck Zandoval.

bradtx 09-05-11 07:56 AM

zandoval, Best wishes for you. Per the local news every now and then we get a whiff of the smoke this far south east!

Brad

Hope everything works out well for you, your family and friends.

Meanwhile here, I need to build an Ark, its been pouring down rain for about 24 hours so far.

lostarchitect 09-05-11 10:38 AM

We used to have these bad fires now and again when I lived in California. A few times they got within a hundred yards or so of the house. It's scary. Best wishes, hope everything and everyone is ok.

rekmeyata 09-05-11 10:43 AM

I remember trying to hose down the wood shake shingles with a hose, but the water pressure was so low that it would just dribble out of the hose! Once that happened it was time to leave! Later after the second fire we bought a pump so we could attach a hose and suck water out the pool if that ever happened again, then we ended up replacing the wood shake with steel shingles.

A lot of Texans were counting on getting some of the rain from that tropical storm, some as you've seen really, really needed it. It's been one helluva drought!
