It's funny to me that the last bike I would ride in the rain is my Carbon Ironman. Seems that would be the least likely to be affected by rain. However it's not the rain but the fear of crashing and I'd rather wipe out on steel because at least I can see my self repairing that...the carbon not so much. 50% of my crashes have been due to rain. Saturday's weather forecast calls for rain and I plan on riding. Boy I'm not looking forward to that.

It seems we've been on a Carbon run lately and speaking of, @jetboy I've seen you post that the Carbon Centurion was carbon wrapped aluminum, how did you find that out? I've looked at @fleslider centurion website and I didn't see it mentioned there but perhaps as usual I'm missing something.
And speaking of the vintage-centurion.com website I hadn't visited it since the big change. But I like it ...a lot. On the '86 advertisement there's actually a pre -page to it. I'll try to post it here.

Good point. I am just quoting someone here at bikeforums- It was said, and then when I looked inside the tubes (those I could) I saw aluminum inside and not carbon. but the ends on most have aluminum compression plugs in them so one cant see far. But the head-tube certianly is. My Look, in contrast, is just a carbon tube without the aluminum lining on the IM.

(The Look is actually not just carbon - its also got threads of Kevlar and ceramic in it. Not sure if that helps or just was something fun to try.)

Certainly you could put it on a thumb drive, straight from here, and then take it to the printer. No?

Do a Google image search of the photo. Choose the option to display only the largest sizes in pixel dimensions. Choose the largest version that's reasonably sharp. Keep in mind that photos online are often recompressed many times so scrutinize each at full resolution.

Print quality then depends on the size of the source image. Some shops recommend 300 DPI for posters but that's overkill. In ye olden dayes posters were usually halftone printed like newspapers and magazine. At a reasonable distance they looked fine. Even 150 DPI or so is good enough for some posters. Heck, halftone posters were much lower rez than that.

That photo of the retro gal in the jean shorts and white shirt with red bike is 564 x 807 pixels. At 300 DPI that would make a whopping 2x3" print. Reducing output to 150 DPI would increase size to 3.76 x 5.38 inches. Still far from poster size.

So you'd have a few choices:

• Find a larger version online.
• Find out who actually owns the photo and license a high rez version.
• Use software interpolation to increase it to printable size. Let the print shop do this. They usually have the best software for the job.

At 200 DPI, the file size would need to be 4800x6868 pixels to make a 24x36" poster. You probably won't find that online. So for best quality you'd need to find the owner of the photo (usually the photographer) and license a copy.

But if you can find a larger version online it might be suitable for interpolation upsizing.

Please correct me if i am wrong, but i remember they had a lug that had a internal tube also in the lug so the adhesive was put on the internal tube as well as at the end to keep the strength up. So if you were looking at it from inside the tube from the lug, it would be Aluminum tube for the first 5-6" . The early carbon Allez and Trek 2000 Series were also this way.

easy way to find out. take your seat post out and shine a light down there and see if its shiny all the way down. @Chombi1 reports that his 72 Line Seeker is aluminum lined, and exxon bikes were as well. So i guess its not so uncommon-

I always confuse John Hiatt with Tom Waits. They don't sound alike, but the names are so similar. Hiatt actually sings. I don't know if you can say the same for Waits.

Im' a John fan and a Tom fan , Tom is a acquired taste . Pasties and a G string is a good song IMO .

Very. First time I saw him was with Bonnie Raitt, and they could have played instrumentals all night and been fine with me.

Nicest was at Carolina Theatre in Durham NC. The "in" crowd goes to see folks at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
The Restovus go to the Carolina. The night I went, full house, and probably 1/3 of the crowd were professional musicians from the area.
Durham blues musicians were in abundance. I'd love to see where they all went after.
