I'm going to guess they had the stickers lying around and just put them on the fork.

And no I don't think I ever have or will see a glued lug Reynolds tubing bike.

I think we need more pictures anyway.

It didn't happen. Someone wanted a Reynolds 531 bike, but had an ALAN. I can't imagine anyone was fooled...

The forks are aluminum. I agree with the others. Someone is fooling him or herself. Here is my 1981 ALAN with an identical fork and there is not a nano ounce of steel in them...

I've never seen an ALAN without glued aluminum lugs, and it doesn't make sense to have 531 tubes glued into aluminum lugs. However, there is a slight difference between the OPs fork and other ALANs I've seen such as Randy Jawa's above. Note that Randy's has a small, angled lip where the fork crown meets the blades, whereas the OP's has a smooth junction. Also, though it's hard to tell from the one photo, I do not see the engraved marks on the front of the bottom head lug. I still doubt it is 531 tubing, but I'd be interested in seeing more photos.

agreed, those are the frame decals, not the fork decals. My teledyne titan has a "guaranteed not built with Reynolds 531" decal on it. I hear you can still get them.

is it me or there a big fat hexnut on the adjusting barrell that should not be there? I think we need to see the whole ad and more pics.

PS what a waste of a pair of good stickers

seller confirmed that a magnet did not attach to the forks. and that they were aluminum.
no clarification on why there are Reynolds stickers on the forks though.

It is a statement by the former owner. "My bike is also a good bike." It's a wanna-be 531 bike. "It's as good as 531." "I'm hip, I also know about 531." "531 is cool and here's a sticker that proves I am part of the hip, 531 crowd."

The thing is, ALAN's are good bikes on their own merit. They don't need any relationship to 531.
