Clamp on adapter for Simplex braze on derailleurs

I thought I'd try to post this here, rather than the mechanics forum.... as it involves Simplex...

Will the Problem Solvers braze on clamp adapter work for Simplexes?
https://harriscyclery.net/product/pro...p6221-qc49.htm

Looks like it could work... but not sure if it's going to thrust the derailleur out further than it should be with that clamp.

Any tips. Has anyone successfully used an adapter clamp with a Simplex style braze on derailleur?

The Simplex braze-on is positioned VERY differently ;on the seat tube than the standard Campagnolo/Shimano/etc braze-on, so one would not expect a Problem Solvers clamp specified for Campagnolo/Shimano/etc to work with a Simplex. For experimenting to see if you get lucky, I would try an endless band type clamp taken from older Suntour and Shimano front derailleurs.

I'm not really seeing how an endless band would work. The nutted part of the band sort of sucks up into the derailleur itself, looking at this picture of a Suntour FD with an endless band:

I don't see a place where that could go on a braze-on Simplex.

Anyone else ever tried to use any type of clamp with a French braze on FD? Sounds like it might be a no go...

That particular type of mount requires a specific braze on. And as you have surmised, it will not work with an endless band. You have two options. Find a frame to fit the derailleur or get another derailleur. Wish it were different.

+1 - find a Peugeot PSV and don't look back.

I could use that derailleur and would happily swap a clamp on one for it. I need it for this bike, assuming it will fit.

Anyone know if this is the one I need???

Would this work? It's simple to fit to the frame.

No, not for a Simplex FD.

The Simplex FD mount is a simple M6 piece, rather like a water bottle mount but M6 instead of M5.

I just picked up a frame that has one of these bands stuck to it without the FD. Does anyone know how to take it off? .. or anything about them?
Cheers
