I just picked up this Flandria 3 speed which is similar to emy_knopfler's and I feel is in remarkable condition for it's age. The Sturmey Archer hub has a '73 date stamped on which seems right. I was told by the seller, who got it from the original owner, that it was brought to the US from Belgium. The most obvious proof is the license tag from Namur. I suppose that tag could be bought anywhere, but the fact that the fork has the braze-on mount for it makes me believe it is not a US bike. I was also surprised to find 700c aluminum rims on it. I'm going over it now and I'm pretty excited to take it on the road soon. It's my first 3 speed. The photos are not mine, they are from the sale posting.
Awesome

What type of pedals would you install? I'm thinking of installing lights as well. The frame has all the needed braze ons for that.

As non-fixie suggested I should post this Leon Cattrysse bicycle in this thread, so here I go.

See more info here.
I really don't know anything about this brand. I do see some design elements similar to the Flandria 3 speed right above this thread. Black lugs (not the same though) and integrated rear rack. The Cattrysse also has a bolt half way down the left side of the fork. I don't think it was meant for the license plate though, but for a generator.

No markings I was able to find, but the grease is mostly gone and replaced with grime and dirt. The spindle definitely is lacking any other markings. I'll clean up the cups tonight to see if I missed anything.
Update: nope, no other markings on either cups.

Not a bike, but is has as close a link to Belgian cycling as anything in this thread: a late sixties Rodania watch that Santa got me:

For those who don't recognize it: Rodania has sponsored Belgian cycling for decades by providing the car that announces the riders, the "voiture ouvreuse", for many big events like the "Ronde van Vlaanderen" (Tour of Flanders).

i'm thinking that maybe non-fixie received this watch from Father Christmas because mrs. non-fixie told him that if he brought non-fixie yet another cycle or cycle fitting he would find himself in BIG trouble.

Thanks. It needs some work. Rust bubbles are blooming on the top tube, but from 10 feet it looks almost perfect.

I have a Libertas of the seventies and a Dossche that is a bit special. It is NOS and from the thirties. With all belgian components but the brakes (swiss of course)

Ok, I'm looking for the same Libertas-mann bike as yours. You'll understand why when you read this: Fabio Farelli: Te mooi om waar te zijn.
do you think you can help me out?
I've only got a kid's frame, trying to make a bike out of it for my son. If you can help me out with that one, that would be nice as well!

On the correct Flemish (Vlaamsche) pronunciation of Van Hauwaert:
Van is NOT pronounced as 'van' like a car but with a flat A, almost like the German 'von.'
Hauwaert is pronounced 'Ow Art'; the letter H is almost silent.
Take it from me, was born in Flanders.
Pedal on!

Well...
Since Tom13 called me back here and since the Dossche brand is already known and I consider myself as already served, no risk to increase the biding fever ...
Sorry to post that way but prices are becoming crazy and Belgian bikes are still a bit of a secret allowing correct deals.
My Dossche.
This is a Gent brand known primarely for the track bikes given that this city has 2 "vélodromes" still in operation.
Dossche, as a bike brand is way older.
As for a good number of belgian brands, it starts with racing.
Aimé Dossche (what in a first name) is one of the numerous Belgian racers. I'm not sure but it might well have been a family of racers.
Here is records Aimé Dossche
Retiring from racing, he starts his shop.
The initial address of the shop is important and allows to date my frame as before WWII
The frame was bought NOS, having changed hands a couple of times and showing only some discoloration at the places that were exposed to light (loose protective paper)

It came without fork and I matched it with another period belgian fork with an Ekla fork crown (Brussels made, that one)

So, with this, what was my project ?
I wanted to built the bike with only Belgian made parts.
Belgium had many specific part builders, most unknown and most coming from the Liège area.
This is normal. Since the middle age, the area is known for his weapons manufactures and the bike component is a hopefull most peacefull derivative.
Did I succeed ?
Well, to be honnest, I made some exceptions where either it was not possible, or when I didn't managed to find the parts.
The saddle ...

Well, I don't know any Belgian saddle manufacturer and we were used to accomodate Brooks saddles mostly by reshaping them, rivets outs, on a forge.
This one is a rare prewar orginal
The tyres ...

Even if several brands of Belgian brands existed, the ones I have (Englebert) are not fitting the belgian NOS wooden rims, or when you find them, the rubber perished.
The brakes (you saw them on the above picture)
Well ... I didn't find the brakes of a specific brand I was after for a decent price and I need brakes that stops in less than 100 meters. Given these element, very old Weinmann, even is potentially not period correct, did the trick
Here with different brake rubber

With a special focus on the cable end ...
The toeclips ...
Didn't install these yet; given than the leather had to be replaced

The hubs...
I have Belgian made hubs but not for a racing bike (although I still need to clean a couple of rusted hubs that came from a shop of my partner family)
So, what'd had been better than prewar Fratelli Brivio hubs ?
The headset ?
I'm not sure of that one.
While too recent, they may be of a known Belgian brand or they may be Edco.
I'm afraid I mixed up some parts and for headsets ... far from easy.
Other than these, all parts are Belgian made. With lot's of "Titan" parts (recently I was able to match all the Titan wing nuts thanks to Velocifer), replace the Jhaga shifter
Very effective Belgian derailleur that I tested with success

This to end up with ...

And last summer,

A pause ...

Right. I need some help with this one. I picked it up a while ago, never having heard of the brand at the time. Looked it up, found an interesting story, drove by the still-existing shop last year as I was passing through Antwerp (on a Sunday, so the shop was closed, alas). I thought it might be a late sixties or early seventies bike, with the 'pat 71' Campagnolo derailleur.
However, when I met a gentleman last September with a similar-looking machine, he told me that they stopped spelling L'Express with two s's a long time ago, and those particular decals were only used until 1960 or so.
The only other one I saw was at the Stalen Ros meeting in Ghent in November as well, which was labeled as a 1955 bike.
Anyway, here are the pics. What do you think? Is it a late fifties L'Express?

Some additional information: these are the L'Express' I saw in September and November. Now that I look at the pictures, I pretty sure they're the same machine.
