If you remember that commercial, you're C&V, too.

BTW: Growing up a couple hours from Kenosha, we had Javelins, AMX's, and V8 Gremlins all over the place.
Yes, you could get a Gremlin with a V8. Styling-wise, AMC really had a different look.

"Piston engine goes bing-dada-bang-dada-bong, but Mazda go hmmmmmmmm."

Gremlins shared the same platform (and everything doors forward) as the Hornet; hence the room to stuff a V8 in 'em.

Getting way of topic here but AMC's Eagle was way ahead of its time in the start of the SUV craze. Chrysler just didn't know what it had with the Eagle.

This is an interesting topic, I do agree when it says full group it should be matching everything almost, or 90% there. Including cranks, brakes, derailleurs, shifters, headset, hubs etc.

In the case when it's just shifters and derailleurs or cranks, they should be more specific and say the drietrain is so and so.

i don't really believe anything a seller says about the bike. if someone says "full blahblah group" they clearly don't have a full group. i'd venture a guess that almost no bikes have a complete group including seat post, headset, BB, etc. Most bikes weren't spec'd with complete groups either.

I responded a few weeks ago to an add stating "Canpy wheels / bike light" He didn't know anything about the wheels and wasn't a cyclist, I met up with him to look at them and they were really dirty and rear rim was cracked at each drive side spoke. I told him i wasn't interested and was about to offer him $20 for them just for the hubs but before I got the words out he said I could just have them since they were broken and not worth anything to him.... I got them home and cleaned them up and turns out the hubs are 9spd vintage campy record like these which would probably go for like $200+ per set on ebay... sometimes you win!

My first car was a 1970 AMC Hornet SST that I paid $130 for in the summer of 1985 just after graduating high school. We burned out reverse gear playing rally car in a field next to the elementary school where the motocross guys would ride. I vividly remember Bob Post going wide to avoid a bump and getting on the 2 wheels just barely avoiding a rollver (we took turns running laps). Drove it from Endicott, NY to Great Adventure in NJ with no reverse gear, whenever we needed to back up we had to get out and push!! On the way home it started to run on 4 cyclinders, I sold it back to the guy Ibought it from for $100.
