Just got this

3T TTT stem

I just bought this. I don't care about what the price is too much, because it is what I needed and not unreasonable to me (a 26mm quill). What does everyone think, good deal?

lostarchitect 09-23-11 03:38 PM

If you don't care, why ask? ;) Seems like an OK price to me.

Capecodder 09-23-11 03:41 PM

Why do you think it was too much?

jrhii 09-23-11 03:44 PM

I didn't get all what i wanted to get in there. Point moreso was, I don't know too much aobut TTT stems. I know the fancy ones seem to be pretty respected, but are there more basic looking ones reputable? Gets the job done, I assume. It is cheaper then any new 26mm ones I can seem to find, while the 25.4 are a dime a dozen.

You just answered your own question;) It was a very good deal, you have to spend at least that much on a no-name brand.

fair price for a nice stem.

Chombi 09-23-11 04:06 PM

Good price for a very nice, clean looking 3TTT (design and condition). Doesn't look like a "death stem" design either, so you should not worry using it.:thumb:
Can't go wrong with that one! Have you priced other Italian stem lately, like plain/vanilla Cinelli 1As are going for such high prices these days (over a hundred bucks easy for NOS) while the 3TTT stems a re a bargain in comparison. ITM and 3TTT stems were both good enough that many famous Italian bicycle marques from the 80's used them to supplyr their pantographed stems for their fanciest bikes.:thumb:

Considering it has the rubber shim thingy and the bolt cap I'd say thats a very fair price.

I was just thinking this too. After $5 shipping I still paid more yesterday for a round of beers at the Baseball game! (I don't normally buy beer at the game, but it was the least I could do for free tickets that had a $77 face value.

AZORCH 09-23-11 05:02 PM

I've been looking for that exact stem to replace a shorter version of same. You paid far less than I've seen them going for. Good deal.

I've been to a few local independent league baseball games. The tickets are a whole lot cheaper, but the concessions aren't.

The real trick is to have some drinks beforehand. editt *at a nearby bar, not before you drive out!*

Good deal or not, without knowing how much shipping added to the OP's cost, it is impossible to know if the deal was good or not. Twenty plus dollars for a nice TTT stem is not at all unreasonable, but if it cost $25.00 to get it from the seller to the buyer, my answer would be a bit different. Also...

If that is the exact steering stem the OP wanted, then most prices would be justified. If, however, he or she just wanted a steering stem, then my guess is one could have been found or considerably less.

I sell standard stems for ten bucks, locally. But if you want me to go to the trouble of answering emails, posting pictures on Ebay, packing and then shipping the item, be prepared to cover my handling costs.

This might sound commercial to some people, but my time is precious to me. And it takes time to do all of the above, not to mention finding the steering stem, in the first place.
