Rivendell just grates on a lots folks, in this section of the forum. The bike does ride great IMHO ( I am biased). I find it very comfortable and am trying to get myself enough miles in to really do it justice.

I like mine. Going on 3 years old, though:

IAB - I'm not talking about Cinelli's entire line, or Colango's. I'm talking about those two particular bikes.

[QUOTE=Italuminium;13272908]expanding on my Pegoretti suggestion... this.
...or this: A Luigino SE http://www.bikyle.com/images/Road2010/PegLuigBrown.jpg |
Since this forum drools over Varsitys, Surly bikes will be a big hit in another 10-15 years. Same for Soma. And Torelli makes some nice steel frames. And Mondonico.
Tommassini has some very nice steel frames. Not sure if you can get them in the U.S. but Basso has a nice lugged steel bike: http://www.bassobikes.com/en-Uk/viper-vintage.php And don't forget all the builders that attend the NAHBS. Like Ahearne http://www.ahearnecycles.com/picture...tureId=7975053 http://2012.handmadebicycleshow.com/...xhibitor-list/ |
So nobody has posted any inexpensive bikes... |
Modern Classic or Retro Classic?
Modern: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1...6/P1010839.JPG More modern: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-J...0/P1010735.JPG |
Gomango,
A Luigino spotted in the wild, double fork frown: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-S...0/IMG_6417.JPG Owner seemed like a nice guy, foreigner, from someplace northwest of MN. |

Surly, Soma, Raliegh & Masi could all be had for around a 1K, rather inexpensive in comparison to the rest of the herd. |

If it's one of TMB's bikes, they are beyond my "mortal" means. Man, he has some beauties. I miss seeing them on the forums. I've only seen one of these in person, but that fork burned a hole in my brain. Pretty, and so distinctive. So classy. Good taste in cars as well. :) |
Are all Pegoretti's highly regarded? Reason I ask is that a shop near me has about 10 unbuilt frames for sale. Lots of other high-end carbon & steel as well. I thought that they were uncommon until I went there. None were lugged if that means anything.....
Here is a link to their current stock of Pegoretti. http://www.bikyle.com/search_results...rch=fromSearch |

Here is a link to their current stock of Pegoretti. http://www.bikyle.com/search_results...rch=fromSearch I happen to "enjoy" his take on the modern bicycle. Clearly, a Luigino would be an incredible bike to own. I met Dario Pegoretti at NAHBS and he was so nice, it floored me. I like what he has to offer a great deal, but I must admit, he is a little out of my price range for the next few years or so. I don't see used Luiginos ever, so that is no option. |
Yeah, the beefcake chainstays are radical!
On another note, does anyone know what the hell this bike is sitting on top of?

I'm a fan of Folk Engineered bikes, hand made in Newark, NJ, a short bike ride away from me.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3217/...f46a0d95_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3619/...6cf5a129_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3499/...ddaaa7f9_b.jpg The rest of these pictures are at http://www.folkengineered.com/store/Stitched-Bike and http://www.flickr.com/photos/volcani...7626690736360/ No, the frame isn't actually stitched. It's just made to look that way, but the handlebar wrap is stitched on. |
Fender...bikyle has a relationship with him, or had one. That's a pricey shop.

[QUOTE=Bianchigirll;13271730]Max if I wanted to do so where would I go to order that Cinelli? is Cinelli still building steel bikes? also is it just me or does something look odd about it?
Something does look odd about that cinelli... i think it's the very short stem that is also too high. It just looks TOO big! sorry...! |
