Old Giant ONCE team frame?
I found this bike in a junk yard on the weekend.
It's a Giant Peloton that's for sure, but I can't find the same bike. Only other colour combinations. Though the ONCE team seems to ride the same colours - but again I'm not able to find any information on this specific model. I also contacted Giant, though until now they didn't get back to me... Has anyone seen this frame before and can tell me which year it was built? http://www.lispel.de/giant.jpg Cheers, garamond P.S.: I know, I know - pictures from the drive side only, but I was in a rush! :twitchy: |
They sure throw real nice things in junkyards in Cologne!.......:rolleyes:
Are you sure that the bike was not owned by the junkyard owner? It's so undamaged, clean and complete:thumb:..... Chombi |
Boy, I really like that frame...and the matching branded saddle, wheeee!
Nice pickup! Here appears to be the same frame as yours: http://www.ozinga.dds.nl/images/Giant%20Peloton_1.jpg Maybe try to contact that site owner?? |
Wow. Those are giant bikes.

sweet jesus that headtube is long!
nice looking bike for sure though. needs drop bars |
So actually I got an answer from Giant today saying that the bike has nothing to do with the ONCE team and that it is from somewhere around the 80s. Sadly they couldn't give me any more information...
But yes, it is tall! (64cm) |
You might want to look over some Schwinn catalogs: Giant was making a lot of their bikes at the time, and you may see something similar in their lineup.

That's not what Once rode back in the late 90s. I was lucky enough to be one of the first to get my hands on a Team TCR frame before they hit the market. I was riding Once's look 171 frames at the time so I had to have the new Jalabert bike. The first slopping top tube pro frame, really. I actually like it but a bit twitchy after 70 miles of getting hammer by the big boys.
