I've used Ergos with a Noodle - EXCELLENT combination, if you route the cables right. I'd have trouble seeing a Rando not working.

Can you expand on the cable routing? Have any pics? I have two different rando bend bars and a Noodle bar; I'm really digging the the Nitto B132.

Sorry for the thread derailment, Rocket-Sauce.

I live in flat-to-rolling south Louisiana, so I'm lucky that I don't need a granny. I use a "cross-over" (lazy cyclist's) shift pattern rather than a half-step, which results in seven useful gears (rather than the theoretical 12 with a 6-cog freewheel), but NO double shifts. If I had to ever add a third chainring/granny, I'd still stick with a cross-over pattern. It worked for the pros in the late 1970s - pre-STI 1980s and it still works for me.

CJL, sent you some pics this morning. The routing issue (for both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Ergopower) is that the shifter cable guide on the handle is designed to route the cable up over the handle bar so the both outer cables will fit into a handlebar groove on the front of the handlebar. This is very uncomfortable on my palms, since the cable is right under my palm when I'm near the hoods. It really messes up the nice long, smooth platform formed by the Nitto bar and the Campy lever body. I routed the cables to the outside of the bar using filament tape to hold it in place as I wrapped the bar.
