Now, Oggypop, would you like to share something about your blue mixte with us? How does it ride? Does it shift well? Are you pleased?

Very pleased with it. Shifts very nicely and the ride position is very comfortable. The braking is wobbly/bumpy due to those premo Rigida patterned chrome rims but it's ok. The Stronglight crank came from my UO10 road bike. The bars are VO mounted to an old SR stem that was sanded down to fit the french steer tube. The dynamo lights work well and I'm considering upgrading the headlight to an LED. Although, this one works nicely as it is. Saddle came from Vic's Classic Bikes (look it up) in Louisville, KY and the old stock Suntour Derailleurs came from the Colonel himself.

I really like the look of this bike ... this is my first Mixte to own or ride and I think it's a keeper for sure.

Looks great! Switching the steel rims out is a quick fix, biggest expense would probably be spokes and wheelbuilding since you can get a decent rim for around $40.

PS Are those the VO Porteur bars?

Yep ... I really like them. I really wanted to keep the original bars but they had been bent funny and only the left side 22.2 clamps could fit. Bars sorta ovaled out a little bit. These are perfect for the job.

Love those Porteur bars on a mixte bike. Perfect.

I built up a Peugeot Iseran mixte for my girlfriend. I didn't have any wheels when I got it, so put some 700c wheels on it. The Mafac brakes work fine with them, also put on riser bars.

Just beautiful... my wife has a UE18 Supersport that she loves.

Very nice build. Must ride quite nicely.

Did I miss the detail? What size is that frame?

23" model. I have a yellow 23" one of a later vintage as well (78' I think). I bought them together back in July. The Yellow one is in much worse shape. rust here and there and a lot of scratches. Gallery: http://gallery.me.com/stephen.ogden#...&bgcolor=white

The Stronglight chainset looks great, as do the Porteur bars. Are the grips cork or leather?

I am envious. Very delicious. I wanted to built one for my wife, but she said that she would refuse to ride it. She prefers her 50 pound "mama-chari" shopping iron.:rolleyes:

They are VO sew on leather made for thicker bars ... so I wrapped 5 layers of grip tape beneath to add some cushiness. They patina nicely with the oil from your hands. I guess the saddle would too if you rode sans pants.
