Bridgestone T700 Tourer On The Road
Well I spent till 1:00am overhauling this one so I could ride it today.
I serviced the bottom bracket and headset, added new tires, tubes, rim tape, brake cables, cable housings, shift cables, clean and lube drivetrain, polish all chrome, touch-up scratches, and adjust derailleurs. I even found a matching pair of crank dust caps in the parts bin
Then added a seat pack, tail, and headlight, and finally a Flickstand
Everything cleaned, and polished up to like as it did in 1985. I just returned from a 20 mile shakedown ride, and it performed flawlessly. This without doubt a keeper, and will remain in the fleet.

Looks beautiful. The T700 is right up there on my short list of all-time touring bikes. Many happy miles!

I'm glad you have nothing better to do then be concerned with what I do.

I cleaned it up added some extras, and took some better pics, do you have a problem with that? No need to stop and look if it bothers you so move along bub.
Why do I have to answer to you anyhow, geeez********************

Yes, I am overly excited right now, and just want to share with others who have the same interest as me. I ride alone, and wrench alone, as no one else in my house in into bikes, so I come here to share my good and bad times, sorry it offends some.

CapeCodder,
Fantastic find! And I've enjoyed each thread. Red bikes rock, especially that shade of red.

If someone takes offense, that is their problem. Don't be sorry.
That is a great bike. I sold a higher end Bridgestone earlier this summer, and I really wish I could have kept it.

however, all of these threads could have been combined into the first one. it is just common courtesy, that's all.

I have the factory manual that came with a T700 I parted out a while back. If you plan on keeping the bike around I would have no problem mailing it to you.

+1 for the flick stand... I had this same bike last year but it was just didn't fit quite right. I have the original frame pump that went with it still though, let me know if you are interested in it.

Really nice bike. Now go ride it!
Take some pics out on the road and start another thread!
That ought to fix them! lol!
That bike looks good, and was made to be ridden. So go out and have some fun!

Hey, keep posting about your Bridgestone.
I have a lowly 300, and it is a great and comfortable frame. I've converted it to 650A (26 x 1-3/8") and I'm fast and furious in my neighborhood. I'll try to post a pic in this thread, and don't pay attention to the local buzz-kill.

Outstanding!!!!! As for comments on the number of threads
, these are better than any story that ends with "find out next time when..."!!! Keep the threads coming on the performance of you treasure
. I am just as excited about my bikes and have enjoyed every mile of the 915 I've put on my 1972 and the 202 I've put on my 1971, both since May. Be ready however to take images of your bike on your rides (just as a proud daddy should) and let us see how things are going!!!!!! Now, If only I could come across a deal like that!!!

That is one sharp T700! Congrats on the find and the nice clean up job. I'm sure you will enjoy it. I could never find that model so here is my 400 modified to be a T700 want to be. It has done a great job for me on tours in the past.

My 300
Two points on the 26 x 1-3/8" conversion:
1. Everything 650b is twice the price, wheels, tires, probably bearing balls. These all alloy wheels were 79.95 for the pair. Inexpensive tires, etc.
2. Brake reach. 650b ain't going to happen if I wanted to stop. These Tektro 800A brakes were 25. shipped.
Catch the "modus-operendi"?

Get some Panaracer Randonnee (Col de Vie) tires, you'll love them!
J&B Importers usually carries them in 590.
They aren't too expensive and they will definitely improve the ride.
For something longer lasting but heavier, The Michelin World Tours are good.
I love conversions like that!
Really... tire upgrades can make a big difference.

Thanks for the tips. When I wear these tires down a bit, I will probably try the Panaracers
But I'm not looking for a big difference on the Bridgestone, because I'm building another, higher end bike. I'll be much faster then.
