Best OA vessel
 

What does everyone use to give a frame an OA bath? I've tried a box with a heavy plastic liner, but it bulges a bit too much. I didn't see any totes the right size at Lowes-so what's a guy to do?

By the way, this is a big frame-a 24" Trek 420.

Thrifty Bill made a nice box out of plywood or 2x4s the size of a large diamond frame (the fork can be placed inside the diamond) and lined it with heavy plastic. Others use kiddie pools.

Inflatable kiddie swimming pool. Cheap, collapsable, and widely available (though maybe not necessarily this time of year).

I used to use a kiddie pool, then I made my wood bath instead. Main advantage is it is much more efficient. Unless you have a round frame, a kiddie pool is the wrong shape, so lots of wasted space (wasted materials, doubles the amount of OA you will use, etc). I use a couple of layers of the blue tarp material as a liner. Last time I used it, it took 30 gallons of water, and 12 ounces of oxalic acid.

I made mine out of scrap OSB. This is a 24 inch Nishiki International frame.

12 oz. crystals, or in liquid form? Didn't someone do a "concentration" post? Yeah, found it here.

12 oz crystals. Anything liquid = already diluted to some degree = buying expensive water = waste of money.

12 ounces in 30 gallons of water = 0.3% by weight. Kind of handy, as the Sherwin Williams stuff is sold in a 12 ounce tub. I buy mine in larger quantities as I use a fair amount of it.

How do you drain it?
