"This" refers to what's pictured below (image not mine). See how the spokes are joined where they cross?

Here's what I'm wondering : a few spokes on my front wheel deflect just enough to rub against each other, and it makes a little noise each time the wheel goes 'round. Could I solve my problem by doing what's been done in that picture?

If not, what should I do to stop the noise?

Put a dab of grease on the spokes where they cross and check that they aren't loose. The wire ties with solder are a true old school way of building wheels for cobbles.

Wheels with correct, even tension dont have this problem. Sounds more like your spokes are incorrectly tensioned (or just a couple spokes are loose, potentially due to a bent rim). Tying and sodering was usually dont to attempt to stiffen a wheel and for the benefit that a broken spoke will not slap around and hit the frame/fork if you need to keep riding in a race. Tying/soldering might eliminate the noise but is a poor substitute for proper even tension.

Tied and soldiered is very cool looking and very oldschool, I always wanted a set of wheels like that. that being said I don't think you can just get some small safety wire and go to town. you would need to detension the wheel and start from scratch truing and tensioning. then when the wheel is nice and tigght tie it.
