Found an odd one, Malvern?

I believe it's a Malvern anyways but I can't find much else about this particular bike so far.

It appears to be 1970s but not real low end, it's got forged drop outs, nice lugs, Shimano Crane and Tourney, alloy wheels with Shimano hubs and I weighed it and it's 24lbs as is.

She's rough but complete and so far everything came apart with no issues, I am soaking the stem and post with PB blaster because they're a little stuck but not frozen.

Here she is, any info anyone has would be appreciated.

This isn't good but easily replaced,

Malvern star is quite a well known australian brand. Maybe one of our ozzie friends can chime in when they're done chasing kangaroos for the day :). From a recent post on cycleexif (the owner is australian) I gathered that the number of stars on the HT denotes quality, with 1 standing for entry level and 5 for the professional models, so at 4 you're doing great!

Don't think it's Malvern Star, but simply "Star" and probably Japanese...the lugs look like some used on Azuki and a few Nishiki, perhaps Sekine as well. At least it has forged SunTour DOs and some alloy parts.

My first thought was that you found an Australian Malvern Star, not so sure now? However it is still a cool catch! I am looking forward to seeing the after pic;)

Cheers,
Chris

Nope,not a Malvern Star

I'll have to see if I find any other markings on it as I clean it up, it was advertised as a Malvern but obviously it doesn't say Malvern on it anywhere.

Anyone ever run across a Star brand bike? Doesn't sound like it so far.

The seatpost is a really unusual SR piece, I'll try to post a pic later.

As for the seat, it's yours, what will it cost me to get you to take it? ;)
