+1. People like the front on the left because they're used to it, but it makes sense to have the front brake in the dominant hand--which for most people is the right. It also makes your left hand more free for signaling.

Cable envy ? But yeah, a bit on the longish side. What if you

This, I think, sums up the situation nicely.

Color doesn't matter. She's jealous because the bike is getting more attention.

i like the white, and seeing the pic with black makes that a even stronger statement

it just doesnt do it well enough for me still though, as nothing else on the bike is white...

Funny, I grew up riding motorcycles and I hate the front brake on the right side. Oh, yellow cables would look fantastic......

BUT...

In this case I'd go with a simple light gray or silver. It blends with all the alloy components and becomes almost invisible. And it does not compete with either the brown or the red.

Maybe that was why Campagnolo cable housings were traditionally ONLY found in gray?

Well a long time in coming (including an unfortunate diversion of a river through my house that meant my bike spent several days at the bottom of a river) but I finally bowed to Bianchigirl's (amongst others) supreme wisdom and sense of style and went for gold. My girlfriend was so impressed that she immediately insisted that I use it on her bike too! Hurrah!

Here's some pic's of the finished article.

Its traditiuonally on the left because shifters used to be on the downtube(mine still are) and since more people are right handed, they needed their right hands to shift, and left to hit the rear brak if necessary while shifting. You need the long view here, and at 63, I sure have the long view.

Gold housing! Now THAT'S the shizzle!
The white didn't work with the brown saddle and tape IMO. It made your butt look big.
Looks great!

Front brake, I think you mean. As long as none of us crashes, it's all good.

As far as I remember, every bike I ever saw in the 70's, including all the great European names, ...the ones we lust after now...came standard with the rear brake lever mounted on the right side. Not saying it's correct, but .... FWIW of course.

I route my cables so that one crosses over the other just behind the bars. Tends to keep them closer in to the stem and neater IMO.

FWIW I like the white cable housing, but would switch to white bartape. The saddle could still stay brown and look just fine. White and red is one of my favorite color combos for C&V bikes.

The gold looks best. I didn't like the white or the black with that saddle/bar-wrap combo.

I agree that white looks better with white tape or under the bar tape.

Put me into the Right/Front camp regarding brakes. I agree with Sheldon's position on this entirely. The only issue I have with front brake on the right is when braking and shifting with bar-end shifters on the road. It almost makes me wish I could swap the shifters from side to side...

+1 on gold and a little shorter trim.

I think it might be the low angle but the cables look a lot shorter in real life. I followed Falerio Masi's advice as laid out in Dave Moulton's blog article ' Fasion Faux Pas' and tried to create a pleasing curve that followed the curve of the brake lever. Great little article actually

I think it's quite fine with the fancy-pants white.

If'n it were me, I'd shoot for the old school silver cable or grey. I'm boring like that.

https://www.porkchopbmx.com/Lined-Bra...BLE-FT-CLR.htm

(no affiliation with the folks in the link- just the only place I've found it)

Edit; I apparently missed the 2nd page-

The gold cable housing and the brown hoods look great!

Dominate. Yo.
