80s Raleigh Rapide
Picked this up a few years ago when I was in college. It's been just sitting for the last couple of years as most of my time on a bike has been spent on singletrack. Got an itch to get it going again though. I'm currently in the process of going through an repacking all the bearings. Plan is to reassemble with original parts. From the looks of the bearings, it's never seen too much use.
Never really was able to positively identify what year it was, but I'm 99% sure its the one of the last years they made the Rapide, when the model was merely a shadow of it's former self. Still, it's a classic steel lugged frame that rides pretty nice, even if it isn't the lightest :-) I'm gonna have fun with it!

Yes, I'd say that Rapide is from about 1979.

I don't know where you can find info. I'm pretty sure it was made in Taiwan with some Japanese components. What do you want to know about it?

Was this just a lower end model that wasn't featured in the catalogs?
Also, I'll have to check for sure when I get home, but it seems like I recall it saying it was made in Malaysia.
Edit: Upon inspection, the BB does have "Made in Taiwan" stamped on it. The serial number begins with M (as far as I can tell), which is what had me thinking it might be made in Malaysia.

My Lenton (1962 I think).
It badly needs a good going over, but I haven't had the time or the budget to do it right. It's basically all there, but somebody crashed it into something at some point in it's life. I know the bars are pretty bent (anyone got a spare set of these crazy 1950s drops they'd part with?), and it has a tendency to want to go left when I want to go right. This is probably the only bike with these kind of handling problems that I'd actually want to save. I can't help it, I love it too much.
My 62 Gran Sport.
OK, so it might need a few more parts...
And then my 19whatever Grand Prix fixie 3 speed. Most miserably harsh ride in the world, but at least it's weird.

Yeah it struck me the same way. Then I looked up the lyrics... these are typical:
Happy music, kind of a cynical song. Kind of like that song Pumped Up Kicks from a couple years ago.
When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
You can see it's all lies
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
You can see it's all lies

Yes, she's critical, but weren't we all at that age, when we found out that life was not all just wine and roses?
