Dohhhhh, I forgot about that...

Last week I got a good deal on on Schwinn Le Tour frame and fork, free, in really good shape. I've been wanting to change up my beater/grocery getter and figured this would be perfect to build around since I have most of the parts and can cannibalize my old beater.

So I was repacking the headset and pulled the stem and handlebar assembly off the old bike and go to put it on the Le Tour. Dohhhhhh, this thing has that narrow diameter fork, time for plan B. Luckily in my brothers parts stash that is in my garage there was a nice chrome fork, not sure the make but it has campy dropouts, that fits fine. Luckily my plan includes going with newer 700c wheels instead of the old 27" steel wheels from the old beater.

This must be Letour week. This is the fourth or fifth thread I've read referring to them.

It's not difficult to find .833" stems.

Colonel I most respectfully disagree. There was not one to be found in my garage.

If anyone has one, send me a pm to discuss a transaction.

Why not make one out of a standard 22.2mm stem? Last time I needed a .833" I grabbed an old SR from the parts bin. About an hours worth of filing, sanding and polishing yielded good results.

I like piddling about in the garage/workshop probably as much as every other person here but I don't think I possibly could patiently piddle on a project like that and procure such pristine results. :twitchy:

SPB, I sent a response to your PM.
