cant find/ dont know where to find the serial number on a 60's schwinn speedster i just picked up. any help would be lovely.
Thanks |
There is a very handy site called Google, or google.com. Maybe you've heard of it? You type in what you are looking for and it gives you a whole bunch of related websites. ;) If you go to this Google site and type "Schwinn Serial Number," this is the first result, which provides the answer to your question: http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday...innCodes1.html

A friend of mine has a Speedster. I will drop him an Email and see if he knows
|
He said the serial # is under the head badge. His speedster is a '71 - '72 and he has owned it since new.

Hey Gaucho, I think this link is relative to your interests: http://tinyurl.com/3jg8k85

Hey Jake
+1 lol |
Didn't you all see the winking face?! No, you're right, it was a rather smug reply. My apologies to the OP. But I stand by my feeling that the OP didn't try hard enough to find out the info on his own. I, too, recently picked up a 60s speedster, and found all the info both the OP and I needed on the link I provided above.
And then someone had to email their friend who says it's under the head badge, when in fact the OP says he has a 60s speedster and the link I already provided indicates it should therefore be found on the left rear dropout. No offense, but kind of a waste of time. From my '68 speedster: http://i850.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_3159.jpg |
Why didn't you just say so instead of making a new guy/gal uncomfortable? Although my info may have been wrong, at least I tried to help.
Yes, there are loads of info out there if you know where to look. Perhaps the OP didn't know how to find this info. Isn't this what these websites are all about? People with the same interests trying to help each other out. The same question could be asked a million times by newbies and there will be some of us who will try to answer the same question a million times. It's no different than a school teacher with a new class. |
I provided the only accurate information from the start, followed by a relevant photo, so I don't need to be told to be helpful. I even apologized to the OP--an internet first? The OP was either lazy or unresourceful, and I was smug. Now it's time to give it a rest.
