I got these rims on my Trek 530 in early 1981 and have them still. While cleaning the rear rim I noticed something punched all the way through the rim to the outside and caused a non penetrating crack. The rim still ran true. Out of concern I looked for a replacement and found an identical rim on eBay for around $36. I suspect the original was fine but why take a chance.
