^Yowza. This one is a beauty too! Decals look factory fresh.

I've got a yellow/white '92 but would still pounce on a yellow '93 given the chance. So cool.

Yeah, it was not cheap. Those are the seller's pics, but it's sitting in the The Lab right now and must say, it's stunning. Have an 8 speed DA 7410 group in a box I was thinking of hanging on it.

Period correct and the kind of upgrade a hotshot, spare-no-expense buyer might have done back in '93. Love the dual-plane Tom Ritchey designed fork crown.

Yep, that's true. And, I have a '92 and a '93, just in case.

^nice find. its really exciting seeing that pristine shaped yellow 93' RB-1 frame for the first time huh? Just wait till you have it built up!

nice call w/ the 7400 dura ace. have you got the 7400 STI's too? In my opinion any dura ace from 7400, 7500, 7600, 7700 will look even better than the SRAM Red I've got on mine. Anything before the squid cranks

I'm tempted to go with a current 2012 Campy Veloce 10sp group on this build. Its very very silvery and shiny and would probably look better than the SRAM too with the silver r seat post/stem and headset i've got.

you can find whole 2012 Veloce 9piece Groupsets for just under $700... which makes it all the more tempting....

I prefer the sloping crown fork, but this yellow beauty looks so great with the SRAM. Never would have guessed SRAM would look so perfect on that era bike. Awesome.

If it were me, I would not go lower athena/chorus for this build. I don't even like SRAM, but I moved from veloce to sram force, which I don't regret. A nicer bike deserves nicer parts1 You are right though a silver group would look hot. If you wanted to stick with sram, you should try to track down some silver rival.

What is the reach of the brakes on your bike? Do they interfere with the fenders?

Beautiful bike.

Beautiful bike.
they are the regular 2011 Sram Red Brake Calipers. The fenders are planet bike cascadia 35mm. Tires are continental 4000s 25c (which actually measure 27mm). Its a tight fit, but I've actually done some riding with the fenders on fire roads, gravel, dirt paths and there's no major clearance issues (save for the occasional pebble making noise).

Just got my hands on an '92 RB-1 and this thread is an absolute inspiration!

Question: looking for a new seat-post and noticed you'd initially used the Ritchey Classic. It seems this post comes in 27.2 mm in its smallest iteration. The RB-1 has a 27.0 mm seat-tube, I've checked all the Bridgestone catalog scans that seem to verify this. So did you do something to modify the post?

Pardon me if this is somehow a silly question!

you can fit the 27.2 ritchey classic or any 27.2 seat post its tight but you can work it. there are some old school thompson 27.0 posts and a ton of others if you do a eBay search.

Sadly I couldn't/wouldn't try riding it for the first time today - sleet storms galore.

First things first: Sincere thanks to Frank at Bell's Bike Shop in Philadelphia, PA. He sold me the frame and even built it up in about 1hrs time. The guy is a PRO.

I decided to put my SRAM and all modern parts on it. Too much work to find the old school specific groupset and (now inferior) brifters - if its going to be different - might as well go full fledged modern.
