FWIW the MAFAC front cable stop is almost useless, it flexes FAR too much to be really effective.
It's possible to deflect the front MAFAC hanger slightly if you squeeze really hard on the lever, but it bends mostly toward the stem rather than in the direction of cable pull and I don't believe that it has any significant effect on braking. You would never squeeze that hard in actual use anyway. I've experimented with stiffer hangers and I haven't found that they improve braking. MAFAC used that hanger for many years. I thank they would have changed it if there really was a problem with it.

Roger that; I nearly went over the handlebars on a panic stop trying to avoid a couple of bike cops clogging the middle of a MUP.

Yeah, I've never really noticed any flex in the Mafac hangers, either, though maybe that's just because I haven't been paying attention. These aluminum hangers are much more robust, but I'm not sure how they stack up as far as stiffness goes--I've never actually used one.
