Another nice thirft store find...second in two weeks! :-)
I found this beautiful and lovely pair of Schwinn Super Sports at my local thrift store! They were side by side. I assume this has been the case since 1971-2. They will be on the bay together. They have been excellently maintained as evidenced by their condition. The only thing not original is that bell seat on the men's. Please let me know your thoughts and comments. They are definitely always appreciated. Thanks!

^^They probably got them through a death. The person(s) who cared for them are gone and whomever took care of the estate didn't really see the value in those beauties.

I have a matching pair of 1980 Lotus Grand Prix bikes in a men's bike and a mixte, both in the same blue color. I wondered if there would be value in keeping them together. Seems a shame to split them up.

It's always cool to find a matched pair like those. Aside from the tires (and the mens seat), they look like time capsules.
I wonder why the couple decided on the same color? I suppose they really liked to match... or maybe one person picked out both bikes. I am positive my wife would pick a different color than me. Different strokes I guess.

One other thing not original is that both are missing the awesome chrome spoke protectors (i.e. "dork discs") for the 14-32 tooth wide range freewheels. Note that those extra large spoke protectors are different in both size and hole shape than the smaller ones used on 14-28 tooth freewheel "Varsinentals".
With all original components they'd certainly fetch more $ on the bay.

I love to find a set of Super Sports like that, just gorgeous great find. I picked up a matching set of his & hers Concords a few years ago and plan to build them up with the same parts. The mens is already done just need to finish the Mixte for my wife.

Thanks all! I appreciate all of your comments! Rest assured that this pair of love birds will not be seperated. The bikes being in a time capsule accurately describes their condition. I do not see any rust whatsoever or damage, with the exception of a few paint blemishes. I saw the mens handlebars las Friday during my lunch break, but I was not able to see the complete bike, and thought that they were not good quality. I was not able to return to the TStore on Sat, and they close on Sunday. I finally did yesterday, and to my surprise, I saw them there waiting for me. I know that they were waiting for me because I appreciate and love vintage road bikes, and they have become a passion bodering obsession. :-) Thanks again!

I'm surprised on the flat bars on the ladies frame. My sister still has her yellow one from back then, and it (and all Super Sports, I thought) came with alloy drop bars. And the ladies saddle is a Suburban. Once again, my sister's came with a racing saddle. Ditto every SS I remember coming thru the shop. The fenders weren't standard, either.
